NRL Round 13 - Knights V Bulldogs - 8:00pm Friday 31st May - McDonald Jones Stadium

Probably a mistake but I’m watching as much of the game as I can stand.

A bit worrying that Hastings’ teammates are VERY quick to get an arm around him & pull him away after he gives away a penalty or gets involved in some sort of fracas. Reads like awareness that there’s something up there mentally.

Or simply frustration.

Hastings is finished, he's been pretty poor this year and seems to want to fight with everyone rather than focus on the game.

His attacking game is so predictable and too sideways, he is no threat whatsoever to opposition.

I'm hoping that the knights are searching for a replacement 7

Probably more to do with his teammates not wanting to play with a man down like what happened to him against the Titans.

It's concerning because you don't want teammates seeing a guy as a liability. When Tyson Gamble gets in the opposition's faces I reckon guys around him get revved up. Because they know he's not gonna hurt his own team with it. He knows the line and he gets a rise out of the opposition rather than losing his cool himself.

I feel like a broken record here but I reckon Hastings is being asked (told) to play this way. It’s all about containment and low risk footie.

I’m desperately hoping that it is part of some AOB grand master plan to avoid burning the boys out during the middle part of the season whilst picking up enough wins to make finals and gradually we will open up with the big stimulus being KP’s return in late July/August.

Hastings has a big ego and everyone knows he's on the way out.
He isn't reacting well, but in his own interests he should be doing a Connor Watson and be playing out of his skin till he signs somewhere else - unless he already has an ESL deal worked out.

This might be the case, however he played the same style when at tigers.

I just don't think he is a very creative half

Gagai was doing it before he got sin-binned vs the Titans as well. Probably connected to his blow up with Pryce at training as well. Not sure what the cause of it is, but his head definitely doesn’t seem to be on his football.

I’m not sure that is true. I remember most people on here being happy that we got Hastings rather than Brooks from the Tigers for his creativity and ball playing.

I think most people were happy to just get a halfback, I for one was never thrilled to get him.

Anyway, for us to be competitive we need a new half.....
