NRL Round 13 - Knights V Bulldogs - 8:00pm Friday 31st May - McDonald Jones Stadium

Credit to them, the improvement from last season is unbelievable.
I agree the Dogs have improved, but they need to improve with all the talent they have “bought” into the team.
The Knights were aweful tonight.
The Dogs won the mental part of the game, laying over us in numbers in defence, slowing down the ruck, then playing the ball much faster than us.
The bye, complacency, social media, contract talks, players out of form or out of their depth, and an overall poor attack led to this result. I agree with most of what has been said on this forum after that performance.

The only thing I can put this down to is the Newcastle factor.

They know they get paid no matter what, they know there are low expectations of them at Newcastle from the wider RL comp, they know the crowd is going to turn up and heap love on them all over Newcastle no matter what!
I hate to admit this, but from today’s display, it is probably a fair summation.
And that is a sad, new low.

Yeah true but it set the tone and I just don’t understand how you don’t back yourself to score against 12 men. It was always going to be hard given the conditions and the dogs defence, so what better opportunity were they waiting for. Plenty of other teams are trying to score twice with someone in the bin. Conservative mindset is one thing but you can’t expect to win if you’re not even going to play

We played about the same level as we played in our wins.
We just couldn't break their defence, like we did with sides with poorer defence.

The "headbutt" was basically Jsaf brushing his headgear with his forehead. There was zero sign of any force or impact and the guy laughed while it was happening and didn't make any effort to avoid it, so he knew it was just a gesture.
Back in the day, when English players in particular put in vicious headbutts that broke noses and were almost impossible to defend yourself against because you had your hands full making a tackle, it was a very nasty part of the game and had to be wiped out - but brushing your forehead against the side of someone's headgear is not a vicious assault - it's a gesture that deserves a penalty and maybe a fine, but no worse than patting him on the head.
I don't know how they grade headbutts, but this is somewhere between lowest possible grade and was that even a "butt" if it had zero force behind it?
Still shouldn’t have done it. It was a loss of self control, that is not only going to hurt him, but the team as well. I can fully understand the frustration you would feel against the rshole. He’s a grub of the first order but you can’t head but someone, in front of the Ref and expect to get away with it. The better option would have been to tackle him that hard, that he never wanted to run at you or anyone else again. Make him see stars every time you hit him. That’s the only way to shut up a big mouth niggler.

Hastings and Cogger suck. I get it that Pryce isn't great, but why not give him a crack. Cogger has been an absolute disaster and has no noticeable strong parts to his game
