NRL Round 11 - Knights Vs Eels - 6:00pm Friday 16 May - McDonald Jones Stadium

Haha, thanks for the insight. I thought the same thing as Lefty. But yes, I'm aware is Dad was a good footy player. Never seen him play, and didn;t realise he was that good.
Yeah he was named at 7 in their “team of the century”. First player to play 200+ games for them. There used to be a stand named after him at the SFS. He was never regarded as the best halfback in the comp & kept getting overlooked for rep footy, but he’s definitely regarded as one of their greats.

I may be being a little unfair doing the “how many great halfbacks have they produced in 100 years?” thing because basically the halfback becoming *the* most important position in the game doesn’t really start till the 80’s, the tail end of Kevin’s career. But still even since then that’s a big club Easts and Pearce is still the best 7 to come through their pathways in the “it’s all about the halfback” era… they would have loved to have developed a Johnathan Thurston!

So yeah… it’s just hard to develop them. Heaps of the ones who pan out to be elite don’t even have this neat “I developed at one club” story either, they kind of don’t pan out as a kid and then their “development” actually happens bouncing around in QCup.

There’s a school of thought in player development that you’re better off emphasising a production line of elite athletes - outside backs and forwards - and then just parachuting smart experienced 7’s into that team one after another. You can see the logic. It’s kind of what the Roosters have relied on really.

Oh yea, they're going to play footy and put points on us.

Unsure how we win.
HOLD the BALL would be a good start. I think maybe we match them in the forwards. Paulo easily there best prop with a good pass and offload. If he does another Tino effort we could be screwed.

But as I mentioned there are points in us if we get go forward. But concerned about Moses.

Can't wait to see Moses whinge to Todd Smith every single tackle and get rewarded with 10,000 penalties and set restarts ...
Oh and I'm sure Kasey Badger will **** us over from the bunker somehow too lol

Ex Knights junior and Newcastle boy Toni Mataele making his firstgrade debut for Para.
He would have played and trained with half our side.

Well AOB stuck to his word in this case. Yes handling errors killed us second half, but it’s the responsibility of the half to kick we’ll and kick us out of situation. Like kick early, kick longer etc. Cogger just does not have that on his game. Similar when the Dragons lost a few leads and Ilias got dropped.

If we could Hold the ball we would be sitting well in the 8. As frustrating as it is its really a simple fix for us.
