NRL Round 11 - Knights Vs Eels - 6:00pm Friday 16 May - McDonald Jones Stadium

I’m don’t think they all played bad both starting props went over 100 metres, Bryan with 110 tackles at a 94% I’d pick him over Jones right now, he has played good all year so far.

Matt Arthur I feel is getting better and the stats back it up 1 line break assist and 1 try assist, he doesn’t look to be overplaying his hand like he was at the start of the year.

Bryan for Jones
Arthur for Brailey

Id like Gamble to play another game as he wasn’t exactly on fire, he did good things and bad.

Ponga will want to have a big game to state his claim for QLD. If he had another stinker he will probably still get picked but you never know. Billy may have a chat with him at least. Hammer could play FB. Ponga has the most handling errors at 20 in the NRL.

Perhaps the cup players know AOB is zero chance of making a change so lack motivation.
If they lack motivation to get to first grade, then they should be sacked.

If there isn’t any pressure from players below improving and pushing for first grade, then first grade guys drop in intensity and their performances drop as they know they won’t get dropped

That sums up Gamble’s entire career, he does good things and bad things

It’s just such a sad affair that we are splitting hairs between Cogger, Gamble and Crossland as halfback options. None would be an option for any other NRL side or most Superleague sides

100% agree if we were a serious side none of the said would even make the 7/6 which is a tad sad.

I do think on his day Gamble is so much better than Cogger but at his worst he can be a massive liability I want to see those gaps close more and for him to be more consistent.

Yeah and I also agree about his career, that’s why he has never been an actual starter at his other teams, he was more of a good depth option, I mean before us Gamble never started in round 1 I believe.

I’d take him over Cogger (on his day) but us talking about it just shows where we are as a team

Ponga is locked in for the fullback spot for QLD. A dead lock.

Fletcher Hunt has the same sort of confidence in his own ability as Fletcher Sharpe.
I don't think he'll be as good as Fletcher Sharpe, but I don't think he'll look nervous at all.
I was really worried about Sharpe when he made his debut, but i'm oddly calm about Hunt. I just think he'll give a good account of himself against that Lomax guy - probably out jump him.

Out run him, out effort him, out enthuse him in every capacity. Kid just loves playing footy.

Makes you think about our development of a 7
How long since a local, even brought in Flegg player made it to regular 1st grade appearances as a 7 in the past 10 year and how many over the past 10 years have gone on to success over the last 10 years at other clubs,
After the Johns period we seemed on the decline in lots of positions but 7 is the hub it’s where you want to be strong to be successful, it ain’t happened, WHY?????

Yeah it would be a shock if he did not get selected. In all honesty I think it going to be a good thing. Like when Ponga was injured last year. The side adapted without him.

Ponga goes and plays origin, hopefully he plays well and brings back some confidence to the knights.
I'm interested what sort of reception he gets
You'd have to think he will get a good reception. i'd be surprised if something else

If it was easy to develop a good 7 there would be enough to go around.

Not excusing anything… but who’s the best long term (100 games+ for the club) halfback to come out of the two remaining foundation clubs? It’s either Adam Reynolds, Kevin Hastings or Mitchell Pearce (I would vote for Adam Reynolds). 100+ years and neither club has had a 7 close to Andrew Johns’ level…

It’s hard for any club, let alone one which has been broke for most of its history.

You meant Jackson not Kevin Hastings.

I would have thought Kevin Hastings, from a historical perspective, is regarded as a better player than his son...

Haha, thanks for the insight. I thought the same thing as Lefty. But yes, I'm aware is Dad was a good footy player. Never seen him play, and didn;t realise he was that good.
