NRL Round 11 - Knights Vs Eels - 6:00pm Friday 16 May - McDonald Jones Stadium

I have said this before on this forum, but I believe that even if we employed Craig Bellamy tomorrow it would take him one or two seasons to start getting consistent results with this rabble of a club.
I don’t profess to having any answers how to fix it, but neither does AOB and he’s getting the big bucks , so I think it’s time for a new coach with fresh ideas to come in and rebuild ( for the 395th time ).
We have a good front office with some smart operators like Parr, OSullivan, Buderus etc. so surely we can attract a better coaching staff than we currently have.
But what if the culture is as bad as people are reporting on here, about an old boys club, players running the show while their coaches are apologising for them, or when you can see some of our hero players out at local pubs and clubs, “smashed off their faces”
If even a fraction of this is true, surely that is a good starting point.

My wife asked last night why me and my daughter even watch it anymore, then said she’s surprised that I don’t get as angry as I used to.
I watch because I’m a miserable **** and I like things that take the joy out of life 😂
I don’t get angry now because I expect poor performances. I used to get wound up because I had hope and it pissed me when professional athletes didn’t even try to earn their money. Now I’m accustomed to it.
My daughter on the other hand, she’s just a sports nut that has to watch it all no matter how bad it is.
I totally get this feeling.

I've also thought about this a lot. There seems to be a pervasive, rotten, loser culture amongst the entire organisation. AOB tries to instill some discipline, I can see that getting some of the playing group offside. Remember the story of Greg throwing the ball at him during training. That **** shouldn't happen at a team that is dialled in. I suspect this is why the club have stood by him this long, and also suspect (or wonder) if POS has been brought in to blow the joint up, which would make sense given some of the recent comments. The talks of clique groups etc. I'm sure it happens at every club, but maybe Newcastle are at the 'rip it off like a band-aid' stage.

I was going to say on the this on another thread before I read this.

Burn the place down to the ground, take the ashes to an Incinerator.

Burn the sumbich.

Put whatever Is left after Inceration back In the Incinerator for a second cycle.

Start from scratch, we literally need to do a Simpsons and move the team to another town down the road (New Newcastle)

Too much ****e In this place for anything to be effective anymore.

The one coach I can think of who could have changed the culture and not stood for poor player behaviour is Flanagan. Unfortunately we missed the boat on him

Yet the sharkes players who won a premiership under him don’t rate him at all. See James Maloneys recent comments.

I am more coming at it from a changing of culture at the club perspective. It comes across as too many players are just comfortable and rest on their laurels. Flanagan would not allow that

And as HarVeeGee13 said, vets don’t need a lot. They need motivation and have a set mindset. You know coming up against any Flanagan coached side, they are going to play hard, no matter what
