NRL Round 11 - Knights Vs Eels - 6:00pm Friday 16 May - McDonald Jones Stadium

Expecting JSaf to have a big game! He has his head in front of May for an origin bench spot according to Fox.

If he can have another game of over 200 metres he should be picked at least on the bench for mine.

May
Haas
Barnett
Saifiti

That seems a solid prop rotation IF Saifiti can go one more time at the rate he is going.

Barnett would be my other starting prop with Haas.

May first bench prop picked. Would probably also have Haumole on the bench + a utility (Connor), then an impact prop for the other spot. J Saf a good shout for that one.

Would you pick Barnett ahead of J Saf for the Knights? I wouldn't.

And I reckon the differences are exemplified at Origin level as the level of physicality improves. Barney is a gun, love him, but JSaf is a considerably more effective player. JSaf's last game for the Blues was huge.

It’s a team balance thing. Neither Yeo nor Haas is a defensive enforcer who leads line speed. Barnett is, and he combines it with a top tier work rate. You need a good mixture of player types. For the same reason I’m always picking Liam Martin for a starting edge spot no matter how well Haumole or Hudson Young plays, even if Liam goes 50 games without scoring a try. The effort areas in defence make a real difference.

You’ll note that I was a long term **** talker about Barnett as a Knight but he’s turned me around. I legitimately think Mitchell has been consistently elite at the Warriors and deserves the call up.

J Saf would be more impactful for sure but that’s specifically why I’d look at him to give me 20 minutes off the bench. Maximise the impact rather than spread it out.

I wouldn’t pick Barnett over J Saf. I wish we had both though.

With Best out, Lucas has to play centre especially McArthy playing NSW cup, but unless he is now too bulky I would play Jones second row leaving Cant to still go to 13, as Cants best games are in middle, on edge he seems to get found out to much.
Unless the move Friz back to 2nd row as Hethro or Bryan will be coming in and they straight middles

Maybe this will be the thing to fire them up finally when and not let them just take the easy option out of everybody thinking they less likely to win now and they just keep plodding

Agree Jones for edge forward and leave Cant coming off bench for 13 rotation with Crokes. Cant a much better 13.

Thanks, I couldn’t think of any other stand out prop other than those other three… other than Brodie Jones that is
