They cant even spell players names... they **** me so bad the Telegraph.

Who is Luke Dereau, Aquila Uate, Tamu Wulf, I mean for **** sake get it right!

Both those sides (Newcastle and Auckland) are close to full strength, great to see for an opening trial!

Also on the bench are Billy Slater; Steve Turner, Israel Folau, Anthony Quinn; Cooper Cronk; Dallas Johnson, Ryan Hoffman, Jeremy Smith, Jeff Lima, Matt Geyer and Brett White, so it's not that much of a slap in the face!

Don't know why they didn't get Abraham if they were going to grab a Knights cast-off though. I hadn't heard Tanner had picked up a club though, good for him.

There playing two teams, and one per half. The central coast storm are in one team (Tanner) and then the Premiers will play 2nd half.

Cam Smith is only playing 30 mins for the Central Coast team to get a feeling of players work ethics out there.

Oh, I see, the semi-colon is the start of the new team. Well, at least he is still on the bench with Billy Slater. I suppose Abraham must be injured for the Central Coast.

that knights side isn't close to full strength ...I'd say half

info on the warriors

Four on debut for Warriors

Off-season signings Ian Henderson and Ryan Shortland plus utility Aidan Kirk and winger Malo Solomona will make their Warriors debuts in Friday night's trial against Newcastle at North Harbour Stadium.

Hooker Henderson (24) has joined the Auckland club after three seasons with Bradford in the English Super League while centre-winger Shortland (22) has been signed after making his only NRL appearance for the title-winning Melbourne Storm last season.

Aidan Kirk (21) joined the club from the Sydney Roosters after the 2006 season but had his progress disrupted by knee surgery last year.

After a delayed start he was a regular for the Auckland Lions in the New South Wales Premier League alongside Solomona (20), who played all but one of the side's 22 matches and finished top try scorer with 15.

Coach Ivan Cleary has included the quartet in a 20-man squad to face the Knights in the first of the Warriors' three trials before the 2008 NRL season begins.

They'll play an Auckland Selection on Saturday week (February 23) and will complete their preparations against Manly at Quad Park on Queensland's Sunshine Coast on February 29.

Not considered for the Newcastle trial was major off-season acquisition Brent Tate, who has recovered from knee surgery and is scheduled to make his first appearance for his new club in the match against the Sea Eagles.

Also not considered was winger Michael Crockett (shoulder) while captain Steve Price (calf) and centre Jerome Ropati (hamstring) have niggling injuries Cleary didn't want to risk.

The remaining five players who have been involved with the NRL squad - Toleafoa Leaupepe (20), on-trial Herman Retzlaff (20), Russell Packer (18), Scott Jones (20) and Constantine Mika (18) - are all set to appear in Friday night's curtain-raiser. Leaupepe and Retzlaff will line up for the Auckland Selection while Packer, Jones and Mika have all been named to play for the Vodafone Junior Warriors.

Coach Tony Iro has chosen a much-changed squad from the one that beat an Auckland Selection 30-22 at Mt Smart Stadium on Sunday. This will be the second of four trials for the Vodafone Junior Warriors before they start their campaign in the new National Youth Cup competition next month. It's also another trial for the Auckland Vulcans, who will play in the New South Wales Cup.

The NRL trial will be controlled by top referee Shayne Hayne. He'll also attend the Warriors' training run at North Harbour Stadium tomorrow to run through law changes and new interpretations for the 2008 NRL season.

The players will also be involved in an open day following their training run, starting at 3.30pm at the North Harbour Stadium Oval.

Hope Port beat them personally :P

On the Warriors, good thing Price is out. The Knights really need a win to kick things off for team morale.

Storm wipeout Sea Eagles
By Steve Jancetic
February 15, 2008

MELBOURNE picked up in 2008 where they left off last season, the reigning NRL premiers far too strong for Manly 56-10 in their opening trial at Bluetongue Stadium.

While the match carried nothing near the weight of their previous clash in last year's grand final, it was a similar story with the Storm warming up for their World Club Challenge clash against Leeds in a fortnight with a dominant display.

The Storm leave for England on Monday injury free and ready for a crack at the Rhinos, while the best news for the Sea Eagles was that they too emerged unscathed from a match played over three 30 minute periods.

All the first third showed was that Melbourne's depth is better than Manly's, both sides sending out reserve outfits as the Storm raced in 20 unanswered points.

The Storm did have a couple of ring-ins playing with the back-up boys though with skipper Cameron Smith and Queensland Origin prop Antonio Kaufusi having a run.

Kaufusi was playing his first game following a knee reconstruction midway through 2007 while Smith was kept out of the main group because he is unavailable for the WCC due to the impending birth of his first child.

It took the Storm just 50 seconds to go over for their first via flying fullback Jade Williams and another three followed in what resembled little more than a training run before both sides sent out their top tier players for the second 30 minutes.

The Sea Eagles looked far more impressive in the second period, though former Wigan centre David Vaealiki looked like he had lost a yard or three of pace following his stint in the English Super League with the Kiwi three-quarter unable to finish the job when put into the clear by halfback Matt Orford.

Both sides crossed for a brace of tries to see the Storm take a 32-10 lead into the last third, the final period highlighted by a massive hit from Melbourne backrower Sam Tagataese on Manly youngster Jeff Robson and a double to Storm fullback Billy Slater.

Roosters results from Port Macquarie
Friday, February 15, 2008

The Sydney Roosters have tonight taken on three group 2 teams at Port Macquarie Regional Stadium in the first trial game of 2008.

The Roosters played three 30 minute thirds with the first against the Dhunghutti Broncos.

The game was won convincingly with fitness and pace the key influence in the 48-0 score line. Shaun Foley, David Shillington, Shaun Kenny-Dowall, Luke Towers and with Setaimata Sa and Riley Brown crossing twice. Shaun Foley converted six times.

The second 30 minutes was played against the Wauchope Wolves with Tevita Folau the first to cross. Albert Hopoate crossed for two tries with Stanley Waqa and Ben Jones also finding the line in the 22-0 win.

The Roosters played the Port Macquarie Sharks in the last 30 minutes and conceeded the first points of the game with 7 minutes to go. The team won 24-4 with Riley Brown again scoring two tries, and Albert Hopoate, Ben Cronin, Anthony Cherrington and Antonio Winterstein all scoring a try.

The 25 man squad all came away from the game injury free and better for the run.

Scores updated in the First post for the trials so far.

Riley brown 2 tries, good to see hes goin good.

I never even knew the sea eagles had Vaeliki, how the hell do they afford him, they are trying to buy a premiership along with the roosters, i dont see it working though.
