Newpave Asphalt

I believe the pictures are from the crossroads at Glendale. Call me crazy but I'm going to contact council on Monday and find out which contractors they used for that roadwork.

Did you ever follow this up, Ragnor? Interesting to know whether it was Newpave.

No, but a month or two ago I was cutting through Kotara and I saw a whole bunch of asphalting equipment with Newpave plastered all of them. Nearly ran off the road in excitement. I believe the equipment was the same as in those photos but with new livery. So there you go. Should have taken some pictures. I know you all think I'm nuts but it made my day.

Toohey hinted a week or two ago that the owner of Newpave is one of 4 different parties that have shown major interest in buying the Knights. He's a massive fan apparently.

I got quite excited when I saw some Newpave trucks at the new Minmi Road round about too

It's blimin exciting to know our major sponsor actually exists, I don't care what anyone says.

Sounds like the guy who is behind it all has at least 40 mill to throw around.

Selling a company for $40 million doesn't mean you get $40 million. Assuming you're the primary share holder you've still got to pay tax on that and any liabilities. So after capital gains tax discount and legal fees he's probably got 25-30 million which I reckon you'd burn through in no time owning a football club.

He'd be broke in five years. Next.

A good businessman could run the club revenue neutral if he wanted to.
For almost all of the last 28 years the club has basically broken even - just a few years when the new grandstands were under construction and the Tinkler years when the club lost significant amounts.
Just because Tinkler spent money like a drunken sailor doesn't mean that is the only way to do business.
If this guy has managed a successful business for decades, he would be able to balance the books without too much trouble.

It isn't business. It's a hobby, and a bloody expensive hobby.

Forget Tinkler. How many Hunter sporting teams have gone to the wall being run revenue neutral? Too many to count.

How much money has the Knights lost over the years being run revenue neutral? Tens of millions.

Out of sixteen NRL teams how many made a profit last year? Two. Two!

The Knights, spending bugger all, still managed to lose a million last year.

And what indication is there this guy is a good businessman? He sold a company his father setup. And then got himself dragged into the supreme court for alleged wheeling and dealing.

His stated desire for owning the Knights isn't because it's a good business investment or any love for the game. It's because of his dead son. Now call me a b*rst*rd but that's no way to run a professional sporting team.

If I had 40million I wouldn't be wheeling and dealing I'd be kicking back in a spa filled with champagne surround by half dozen high class hookers.

Beamont with 40mil u wouldnt need hookers mate!! Some woman smell money from thousands of km away! No disrespect towards those woman..good luck to em imo.
