Mitchell Pearce

crossland and hoy both producing the same kicks so far tonight, so is it a tactic or are all 3 incapable of kicking to the corner?

Well if it is a tactic it isnt working. Our forwards were doing their best tonight and at the end of every set, they were rewarded with a rubbish mid field bomb that they fielded and it handed them great field position where over a few set for sets we are pushed back on our own line and running it out under pressure.

Pearce put in one decent kick that surprise, was lower, found the ground and turned the defenders around to chase it. The rest were rubbish and did more to put us under pressure than anything else.

If the team are behind Pearce, they should rally to make this a good win for us.

I imagine Wayne will be up to present his jersey to him pre-game.

Was impressed with Pearce, playing smart wet weather football to minimise errors, keep it simple run up the middle, try and capitalise on warriors mistakes/ force error with which almost didn’t happen. if we lost it still would of been a good loss considering the conditions. Our forward pack damn !

Well ive been Waiting to watch Crossland start a game to see how he goes and i have to say he was very underwhelming . After that effort i would much rather Mann there but imo Green would be the best option .

He focused on defence.........Pearce ran the attack. Where exactly was he meant to input himself?

He's there to defend and attack but he didnt and got taken off because of that imo and wont get a look in when Green is fit because Green can defend and Attack .

Settle down ya noodle, he outplayed Nikorima easy, did his job in defensive line, would like to see what he has in terms of kicking. hopefully he gets a green light from obi

Your having a laugh yeah? A 5/8 in the NRL focussed on defence so he doesn't attack.

He looked like he was not up to NRL speed yet.
No I'm not clearly. Crossland needs to demand the ball if he's going to attack. Brailey and Pearce took on those duties the entire game. If you didn't see that then all good mate. I'm just going by what I saw.

He was not up to speed in Attack imo and we cant afford to carry anyone in this comp and thats what happened he defended ok but if thats all he's going to do then put a back rower in there .

Perhaps give him more than 1 game to show what he has as a starting 5/8th. He had a good but not great game, however he should have more chances down the road and will improve for it. Let’s hope when Young comes in as you’ve called for that he is outstanding from that first game, otherwise I suppose we’ll be looking to replace him with a backrower as well.

What Crossland really needs for now is to take charge of reserve grade and do a lot of playmaking.
In 2019 he was very much the junior playmaker because Lino was hellbent on taking every opportunity to impress, and wasn't giving an 18 year old too many chances.
10 games of reserve grade with Simi as his halves partner will give him a chance to run the show. Simi is very much a running 5/8 who plays what's in front of him, so he won't cramp Crossland's style.

Perfect grounding for him

Were in the comp now and if your happy with mediocre attack then good for you personally i would rather a good attacking and defending player there ..If wanting a good attacking f/b is making a fool of myself then im happy to be a fool no worries .

Whats Young got to do with it he is a centre just incase you didn't know so why would we replace him with a back rower we have other centre's to replace him with if he isnt up to it ..
Are you happy with the way Crossland went is a 5/8 only supposed to be defensive in your opinion ..That was his first big chance to show his skills his first full game to grab it by the throat but he didn't .
If he had played a good overall game he may have kept Mann and Green out but after that showing he wont .
I was all for Crossland to get a game but after that showing imo he needs some time in reserves to get up to speed and hopefully that will happen ...
