Men State of Origin 2024

Moses should have been player of the series.
This series should be what he is remembered for.
The game 2 performance by Moses was one of the great SOO performances, and his individual try in heavy traffic iced game 3 and the series.

There's a very good chance he would have been if he didn't miss game 1. Angus being terrific in all three games sealed it.

Eerie similarities between Fittler and Slater as Origin coaches so far:

- They come in overhaul the team, which had gotten a bit stale, with a big infusion of new young talent.
- They win their first two series, one in very dominant fashion, the other in very dramatic fashion.
- Both get big wraps for their fresh approach & for inspiring the players as former greats can do.
- Third series: Both come up against a premiership winning first grade coach with heaps of experience (Fittler vs Bennett in his case).
- Both pick teams stacked with weird selections which they provide confusing & hypocritical justifications for. Maybe overthinking it due to being rattled by who they’re up against, but both seem to be showing signs of favouritism amid rumours of a poor relationship with at least one of the excluded players (Klemmer, Fifita).
- The veteran coach seems to get their team playing with a far better attitude and also demonstrates clear superiority at stuff like interchange management (an underratedly hard part of coaching).
- The veteran coach wins in a way that seems very attributable to this coaching disparity.
- Both display incredible arrogance in all pre and post series media appearances.

Geez Fittler ended up such a fail I’d totally forgotten he won his first two series!

Fingers crossed the same happens to Slater now.

Would absolutely love to see QLD's shining star of a coach humbled and sent west!

Nothing more than QLD deserves after all their BS about "getting Origin", condescending rubbish!

They happen to "get Origin" through a period where they had 3 of the best players to ever play RL all in the same team together.

Wed night was great as Game 2 QLD didn't turn up, but Wed night they certainly did, and were sent packing.

That was one game that really signifies the saying they played as well as they were allowed to.

Joey talking up Barrett and Buderus as potential NSW coaches. I thought he stopped taking the illicit substances a while ago? 😜
History says that you wouldn’t put Barrett in the same postcode as other SOO coaching candidates for NSW. He seems to be OK as an assistant, but disastrous as a head coach anywhere.
NSW now have a problem with the 2025 SOO coaching position. Let’s hope they come up with the right candidate(s) after considered thought.
I admire Joey and Bedsy, but Barrett is definitely out of his depth in SOO considerations.

I think it's almost got to be an ex-Origin player, just because any current coaches probably won't want to do it, and would find it difficult these days getting involved with players from other clubs ... and all the decent coaches are pretty much with clubs at the moment! Definitely not a great situation for NSW.

I have to laugh about the Kiwis, they signed Maguire when he was Wests coach, sacked him because he took up the NSW job which was seen as a conflict of interest, Maguire quits NSW and goes to Brisbane and back as a club coach, and in the meantime the Kiwis haven't even played a single game! Should have just stuck with him lol.

It cant be one of the boof head ex players though, we really need someone to continue what Maguire has done creating a culture of importance tot the jersey. QLD have done that better than us - not like they like to think that "they get it better"
