Let's be honest its time for our team for 2021!

So does anyone think we need to sign some experience up front? I cant help but feel if we are losing Ese, glasby, and guerra that we will be thin in that department. I can picture all to well that if we got an injury to either saf or klem early next year we would be very thin straight away. Lots of experience on the cheap side who won't get resigned. Anyone heard if we are looking to bolster?

Don’t forget Friz is coming. And I would consider Fitz experienced. The Safs have been around long enough now too. Some inexperience forwards might actually lifts players like saf etc, their turn to show the way.

I totally agree, but my concern is a bench of likely
14. Watson/mann
15. Sione
16. Saulo
17. King

That to me is really worrying size/reliability wise. Other teams benches could monster that imo

Yeah it’s one prop away, in saying that King is getting better and same Saulo.

Agree, hope they come good.

Totally forgot about j saf haha, but imo I would love a toleman or someone that could be cheap and great for depth. Kind of like a replacement for Buhrer/Heighington/Guerra/Glasby to help lead the reserves and fill in when we are running out of forwards. I have always liked the idea of an experienced forward for balance and security
 
Pretty sure glasby's money has been earmarked for another middle forward too. They'll wait to see who becomes available when the season is done

I was thinking the money would go to upgrades for safs and ponga. I think we need one more so we can still have that 80 minute punch through the middle. I think our rotation has been incredible this year and the best I can probably remember for about 15 years. Super underated
 
I think we’re sweet. Our pack is now experienced except Saulo and King but that said, they’re hardly rookies. Time to start bleeding some of the other exciting youth we have coming through. Who’s next @Billy ? Croker??

We are OK for props.
Saulo and Momoisea are signed, and we also have Christian Ma'anaima signed and have the chance to sign Matt Croker on a development contract and King on a bargain contract.

I don't think we need to buy any fringe players - we have heaps to cover every position.

If we had spare cash to spend, maybe an experienced game manager type half.

The most exciting player last year - Max Bradbury - our best player in the outstanding under 16s team and the best young forward since Kade Snowden. Unfortunately, he had a knee reconstruction at the end of last year and didn't get a game before the juniors were cancelled this year.

Talking of juniors, I just saw an article titled "Better than Bradman" in the telegraph (could only read the short intro). It says that Albert Hopoate was rated better than Best in the juniors, which was technically true, the selectors did seem to rate Hopoate higher, but we played Manly 3 times that year - in the trials, during the season and in the grandfinal. Manly lost 3 games all season, when Bradman smashed Hopa in the trials, when Bradman smashed Hopa in the rounds, and when Bradman smashed Hopa in the grandfinal. Apart from those games, Manly were unbeatable and Hopa dominated everyone.
 
We're good for props, but I wouldn't mind another edge backrower. I'm not sold on Brodie Jones developing into an NRL player yet. Guerra won't be around for long. Fitzgibbon needs to be a bit more consistent too (going great last few weeks though).

Brodie started as a prop in under 16s and scored a lot of tries because he was surprisingly fast when he got into open space. In fact, in under 16s, Saulo would hardly ever get on the field because Brodie would play the whole game at prop and was our best player (apart from Starling).
To cut a long story short - they moved Brodie to second row because he was fast - but he isn't fast anymore, and he really looks and plays like a prop still. I think he'd make a very good prop or lock.

I agree that he doesn't look mobile enough for the edge.

I've seen it said in articles that he is our fastest forward and they have used him at centre, so he must still have the speed at training, but I don't see it.
In reserve grade last year Crossland took an intercept and ran 80 to score. Brodie tried to go with him, but gave up after about 40 metres when Crossland had already left him 10 metres behind. He looked like he was trying to run up a down escalator.
