Kurt Gidley set to be Recalled to Australian Test Side

There's loads of reasons selectors make their decisions, form is just one of them.

He's got the most utility value out of all the contenders which is what swings it in his favour. However, as a Kiwi, I can't say I shake in my boots thinking of him coming off the bench.

I'll be happy for him if he makes it, though!

I just don't think he deserves it at all, there are plenty of others players who have outplayed him, and deserve to come off the bench more than him.

I don't think it will make a difference who has the bench spot. Farah and Smith are both 80 minute players, so I couldn't see the point of taking Smith off for Farah or vice versa. Another bonus for Kurt is that he can kick goals.

Yeah, that was pointless when that happened. A player like DCE is stupid too, as we saw when he didn't get on the field in last year's Anzac test.

You definitely need a utility, or else you might as well only name a 16 man squad.

Exactly, but it is funny to think that if cronk was injured, cherry Evans, Pearce, Reynolds, carney, Maloney and those alike would all be given the job before kurt.

There have been plenty of times Australia have done just fine without a utility. And as you said, I highly doubt any team would think Kurt Gidley will have a great impact.

He's been great for Australia for years, I'm glad they're so loyal to their players. I'd prefer to keep Gids out of all rep teams but he's the incumbent when not injured so it really shouldn't be a shock to anyone when he gets selected again.
 
I think Kurt can have an impact as a utility due to the fact he will have some freedom to roam. He will step up if picked...
 
We all know what Kurt can do if he finds form....let's hope he does it would be great for the Knights, NSW and Australia :)
