Knights rumoured targets for 2012

I wouldnt take that as gospel, Boyd wont be in the blue and red until the nrl approves it.

The nrl will not allow boyd to come to the knights under his market value especially under $300,000, the knights will have to pay over $400+

As if Boyd is worth $400k to any club tbh. Anyway that signing was expected despite all the rumours he didn't like living in Newcastle and was weighing up between the Dragons and Titans also.
Based on the newest Snowden news, looks like he will make a decision at the end of next week.

I guess it's a good signing, we need Snowden alot more though.

I agree the knights needs a prop like snowden, they will probably lose do gois as well they wont be able to fit him under the cap

if boyd is a signing the knights wont be able to get any more players $400,000 + isnt worth it for a player like boyd to come to a new team, the knights dont have the defence or team like the dragons, broncos

It will take boyd a year or so to get used to it

Not sure I get this to be honest. Obviously the NRL need to approve it but why do we have to pay 400k+ for him? If he wants to come to Newcastle and/or 3rd party agreements can be arranged then we can pay him whatever we feel like. If the deal is all legit then we can pay him 100k.

If all parties (Boyd, Knights, NRL) are happy, that's all that matters. The NRL can't tell you how much you can sign a player for, only that we are within the regulations of the salary cap.

There is a rule related to the market value of the player but there is no way we will be paying 400K+ for him

Our full strength squad is much stronger than the broncos

We have plenty of room under the cap when you start talking 3rd party. Boyd will be on under 300k without question. The fact that he had no where else to go didn't leave him much bargaining power imo & there's no logic behind bennett favouring boyd when he has a team to build & players too buy

The knights on top of Boyd could sign another marquee player with plenty of room left for someone like Sau

In my opinion, if Snowden doesn't want to come here for $300 000 or less than we should all forget about him. Whilst it would great to have him here, the reality is that you don't need star front rowers, just players who will get the job done.
And if Wayne doesn't want him, shouldn't that tell us all that the Knights don't need him. If we did need him, Wayne would want him. I think that made sense?

What people are forgetting is that the knights are own private now and will be watch closely since the storm debacle

the nrl will not want another nglis and gasnier situation, boyd will not go to the knights under his market value which will be 400+

the knights will not be able to afford to keep de gois and other players if they some how get snowden

An origin or test rep player only has to be payed a minimum of 150 k a season. Not saying Boyd will sign for anything near that. But the Knights could sign him for that much if both agreed to it.

That's a fair point. Although I'd like to know if Wayne Bennett doesn't want Snowden at the numbers being thrown about or if he doesn't want him at all. Maybe the delay is as simple (well, as simple as finding one anyway) as finding a 3rd party deal for Kade that will pay him enough to sign and keep Bennett happy.

Good signing, gives another attacking weapon. Will be interseting to see where Wayne plays him, I would want him in centre but who knows where he will play.

Happy with this, hopefully we can still snag Snowden, even though it is looking less likely now.

Mullen is on 350k. Apart from the fabled gids he is the leader of our team. He is our superstar. He is our future captain. He is on much less than 400

Im not sure what gives you the idea that Boyd is worth 400k especially to us. He isn't proven to play in the halves, is no game braker & is only signing by default because we have no direct need for him. We are paying him much less than 300k

his worth to our team with what we have & what we need is 200k imo so anything over that he is lucky

Going off what I read last night, we're trying to finalize Boyd first, he's our priority and then we'll focus on putting together a tasty contract for Kade so Rothfield's stories appear to be yet again make belief. If Bennett didn't want Snowden he would've re-signed with Cronulla already, the fact that he's happy to wait tells me he's still keen on coming home
