Knights rumoured targets for 2012

I'm will be ecstatic if we get Boyd. Today he show just how good he is with that break and try. IMO Boyd is a better signing then Snowden.
 
Maybe Bennet has plans for Gidley to move into the No.6 Jersey, sorta like Lockyer did, then Boyd into Fullback, then Beau comes in if theres an injurys, or when people are out for Rep duties??
 
I can't stand Gidley at 6. Too much crabbing & brain explosions (kicking out on the full, wrong options etc.) Keep him at fullback or put him at hooker!
 
I don't know if Beau would offer enough utility factor to warrant giving him a bench spot IMO.

It is all intriguing though. No doubt Bennett has spoken to Gids and Boyd about how he would see them fitting into a team together. A full off season getting Gids to straighten up his running and general attacking play could see Boyd slotting into fullback. Otherwise, I would want one of them replacing MacDougall as it looks unlikely Gids to 9 if De Gois re-signs.

Gids would play the utility role
 
I wouldn't mind seeing Gids named at lock, but play more of a "roving" game from the back. That allows him to chime in when he senses an opportunity, but he doesn't have to be a playmaker where he really struggles. He could then move to hooker when De Gois needs a spell, and we could bring Hilder on...or just bring Hilder on at hooker, it all works really.

Could work imo.

Gids at 13 could work but ideally we don't want our best player battering it up the middle, that roving role at lock would only be beneficial if we had a better foward pack that could consistently roll foward with everyone contributing. Otherwise we would be playing a foward down the whole game and being bashed up the middle of the park.

It has to be this:

This is where it gets difficult.

Ideally he is our best hooking option at the club and would be the best longterm option there but if you get the choice between Degois and Boyd, who do you think will be more beneficial to the team?

As much as I like him, he has spent a LOT of time on the sidelines since he has been with us and has been on good coin. Unless he takes a paycut I would like to see Gidley play at 9 fulltime with Boyd at fullback. Boyd is the second best fullback in the game, the only reason he isn't the best is because he has close to the best fullback ever in front of him in Slater.

If I had the choice between a consistently semi fit Degois or the Dally M fullback of the year, I know who I would be choosing. Boyd would be a waste in the Centres and those who think Gidley would be a good permanent option at lock are crazy.
 
What do you think James McManus switch to the centres and Boyd to the wing. McManus isnt the quickest winger in the world and Wayne could do wonders with him and that solves the centres problem for next year

Another concern is the old "too many cooks" syndrome. Lots of ball players. Could it lead to complicating things?

Henry is twice the ball player Boyd is. Benny will have a Mullen Henry halves combo without question. Boyd will either become a full time center or our fullback depending on how Gidley is used.

Henry is a big part of our future. I think he's a rare talent & will prove himself before the end of the season.
 
Read an article on Sandow possibly moving to Brisbane and it said that Bennett pushed for Brisbane to sign Sandow for like after Lockyer, and for the Eels to go after him too as Wayne rated him.

Asked if he was so keen on him why wouldn't he be an option for Newcastle. Bennett said he was 'settled' on the halves in Newcastle.
