Kalyn Ponga discussion

They're both legitimately great players, they could easily ping pong back and forth depending on who's in form, who's injured. The NRL collective memory is like a goldfish, when Ponga has some time off, he's overrated and the Knights play better without him anyway. Now Walsh has lost his spot because his team is going bad. If I was picking the side, I'd definitely fit them both in there somewhere, both generational talents.

If anything I think Walsh is better suited to being that impact 14 off the bench. Better at wreaking havoc testing defenders through the middle third.

I mean as painful as it is on the NSW side it’s a good problem to have for QLD, similar to NSW fullback options. You’d still hate for both to be unavailable either way.

Remember when QLD had Cooper Cronk and Scott Prince waiting behind Thurston and Lockyer and then DCE as well? Yeah I’d rather not remember the dark times either

Aside from everything else, he always launches himself at players like that when defending the tryline with just his shoulder and no arms. Probably was a matter of time before he got caught out there with a bad consequence for defender or attacker, regardless of the send-off. Think he maybe needs to change his technique with that ... don't want to see him off the field for us for a shoulder charge in a big game.

Not just being out due to a shoulder charge, he is highly likely to knock himself out and be out due to concussion

You've seen guys get away with it in club footy depending on the interpretation of where the hit is, especially in those sorts of situations, sometimes trying to score, or trying to get them out of bounds. They usually get the bad ones right that end up being high. The ones that still pretty much lead with the shoulder (some argue a shoulder charge) but aren't as high or at best borderline slide. The guy being hit not staying down usually helps. Being in the cauldron of Origin, NSW crowd etc, Koula with a bit of blood was always going to be bad news for Ponga.

Coming from a NSW fan with a bet on QLD winning 13+ I wouldn’t have cared if it was Tedesco, I mean it was exactly a shoulder charge it is what it is, but yeah couldn’t care less, and tbh Blues fans shouldn’t be happy with a win we played horribly and purely got lucky.

Fact is fact at the end of the day and it’s hard to go against what is on video, arguing about the grading is fine but if you do the crime it is what it is no matter if wear a blue, maroon or red and blue jersey

Personally, and I make no apologies for it I care about what’s good for Knights alone, have little to no interest in what’s good for the game and probably less for what’s good for the Blues? 🥳
