Kalyn Ponga discussion

Apparently KP is on $1.5 million now.

Apparently unlikely to see out contract and heavily linked to R360.

Other junk apparently Leo was our best forward, he wasn't even our best prop.

The loss of Thompson has been offset somewhat by the arrival of two props in Trey Mooney and Pasami Saulo from the Raiders and Peter Hola from the Dolphins, but none of those are like for like replacements. - 3 props = 2?

I love how his contract status for the next two years is uncertain but he's heavily linked to a competition that is no where near taking off but had to be pushed back because it was no where near ready and no certainty to ever be.
I wish I was as bad as my job as the Foxsports writers and journalists are at theirs

R360 pushed back to 2028, meanwhile his contract expires in 2027.

But he wont see out his contract due to R360 😭

International game is a joke, players should declare who they align to as soon as they sign a top 30 contract.

State of Origin should be open to everyone - its a joke anyway, again just get them to declare who they align to.

Couldn't disagree more, I am born and bred Australian and love this country but my grand mothers from Scotland and ive lived in GB before and would love to rep both if I was a pro player. You shouldn't be hated for wanting to rep your heritage, should be letting players be proud of their background

Agree, and a lot of this stuff you don’t have worked out when you’re 18, it takes a few years! I don’t see any problem with players deciding when the time comes. Ponga, still not having really represented Australia (apart from a random Nines tournament), should be free to make that call whenever he sees fit.

It’s just a shame that Origin selection has an impact on it.

The Origin shouldn’t have any bearing.
Players can play for NSW or QLD based on where they commenced and any of those players should be able to play for any country that they qualify for but once they select a country they should only play for that one, no jumping ship.

Yeah we kinda fell behind with the eligibility rules. A lot more second generation Polynesian players being born in Australia as opposed to 20+ years ago when they were all born overseas and had no interest in origin.
Thats only going to increase going forward as more will be born in Australia so it really needs something that’s more in line with today’s times.

I don't hate the players at all I hate the system mate. Quite weird to see a Haas be an Aussie for a few years than change allegience.

Just make it pick and stick.

Like I said same with origin player plays NRL picks his state and country.

None of this changing depending on who will pick them.

See I don’t think you should jump ship or be allowed to, I don’t hate for wanting to rep your heritage but way way to many are hurting the Australian team and the prestige by using it to get a name and jump ship.

If you’re so proud to represent your heritage why wait so long?.

To be fair I think they mean for this to happen, instead of rising to the challenge to compete against Australia they purposely weaken the national team so others can compete.

I think you pick a nationality and you stick, stop destroying the prestige, it’s a joke on the entire sport that players can change nationalities like clubs
