Jayden Brailey discussion

Was he not Cronullas starting hooker? They had to pick one of the Braileys and Jayden said he’d leave so they didn’t have to make the decision.
I don’t think that’s quite right, the Sharks definitely picked Blayke over him. But I’ve seen heaps of their fans say they wished they kept Jayden, even factoring in the injuries. Blayke hasn’t kicked on like they expected.

Ye wasn’t fully sure. Blayke certainly been a lot quieter this season compared to last year.

Being reported on $600k, surely as we brought him when he was a backup player and we didn't exactly get in a bidding war - $350k-$400k per season.
He picked our offer over offers from Wests, Canterbury and Penrith (Api became available a month or two after they missed out on Jayden) I believe, so I’d say the money was probably decent. I think he also didn’t wanna give up the beachgoing lifestyle you get at Cronulla, so that was a factor in him picking us over all those westy clubs.

He's desperately needed, I hope he's ready for 40 minutes next week.

He won't be back to his best right away, but he'll still be a huge improvement.

Hopefully he can because we need someone who can just get the ball to the halves quickly. Funny to see Hetherington put a front rower over a try so easily when Phoenix has tried so hard to do it for a year.

I thought the halves deserved a longer chance but I think they may have to bite the bullet and put Cogger in for Gamble sooner rather than later.

Gamble is too error prone this year. I wonder why?

Why? Gamble at least is threatening as a runner and a supporter. Cogger is an out and out 7, probably in reserve grade if we're being honest.

Not to harp on him coz he's gone, but Dom was huge for Gamble on that right side. Knew he had a speedster out wide so he could keep it simple a lot of the time, the amount of times he'd pass to Gags who would quickly tip on to Dom

Unfortunately this year I don’t think the good has outweighed the bad. He was great last year but if things don’t improve soon he’s most likely to pay the price.
I think the best we’ve looked all year was in the trials when Hastings and Cogger were on the field together. I agree I don’t Cogger is a world beater either but he doesn’t seem to have the errors in his game has better boot.

Putting Pryce at 6 in first grade is punting on the season IMO. He’s a man without a map. Needs time practicing in the slower pace of reserve grade for mine. I think this is what the Storm would do with him.

It's a dangerous game putting a new half into an underperforming side, suddenly the onus is on them to turn the team around and they quickly can become a scapegoat and lose confidence. If we end up 0-5 or 0-6 I'd make changes, but I think we can pinch a minimum 2 points in the next 3 games, beware the wounded Tiger as the saying goes.

Gamble and his right side need to run plays for a few hours at training with the better defenders on the other side. Friz just looks like a deer in headlights sometimes. Also something we did well late last year was use the ball from our own end which we just seem too scared to do this year. I seen at least 4 opportunities where gags had a 3 on 2 and tired forwards in 2 but the ball went left.

Cogger offers zero imo. I'd just be keeping Gamble there for now, to be fair.
im not saying Cogger would do it, but our halves arent giving good ball in space to our centres, Best and Gag's havent seen the ball this year and when they have were just sliding sideways. Thats on Hastings and Gamble.
