Jake Clifford

Doubt he would be happy with reports the Cowboys are speaking with Reynolds manager in Sydney tomorrow.

Morgan looks done if they are speaking with Reynolds already.

Just trying to piece together things here, but let’s say it’s true The Cows tried to get Clifford to backflip once they realised Morgo was done, once it became clear it wasn’t possible they decided to move for Reynolds ?

Cowboys management has been inept the last few years but I doubt they are that inept and stupid.

I would imagine they are looking at all available options, it would be silly to place all their eggs in the one basket.

From a purely cowboys viewpoint, I think Payten erred not letting Clifford go once he signed here. Similar to the Taipine situation when Brown arrived. It is one thing for the panthers to hold on to Burton when they are a shot at the title, it is another to have a playmaker fill a key role for the year and then leave during a rebuild. The only thing that makes sense at the moment is that Payten was selecting Clifford hoping a back flip would happen and has now dropped him when it never came. Payten could be finished before he really begins up there.

Payten only had himself to blame. He had a Warriors team humming along and then went and took on a roster that isn’t up to scratch. Might be a great coach, but his team aren’t interested and lacks a good pack.

Meanwhile Nathan Brown must be feeling like he's won lotto after his days at the Knights!

Yep exactly. He’s underrated brownie. I think every coach has a shelf life (Bellamy is an exception) OB could have came in at the same time Brown did, took the team so far and it would have been time for a change. We kind of hit neutral with Brown, and the new direction was needed instead of having him stick out another season out of respect. A deep finals run is needed for OB

I dunno, I think Browny definitely had a ceiling with us. Hopefully he has learned some lessons and with a better squad he can get some progress.

Brown has to get all his decisions past Gus Gould.
Gould wouldn't have let him do half the stuff he did with us.

Reckon if we all sign a petition asking reaaalllllyyyy nicely, Payten would let Clifford leave early to help us field a 21-man squad? 😂

Seriously now would be a great time for the Knights to approach the Cows to ask for Clifford to be released, he is out of favour there and has not been playing well and we could really use him. A change of teams would unquestionably help him.
