Hunter Ports new major sponsor of the Jets and Knights

HSG today announced Hunter Ports is the Principal Partner and front of jersey sponsor for both the Newcastle Jets and Knights for their upcoming seasons.

The two-year sponsorship while generating exposure on the front of both Jets A-League and Youth League jerseys as well as Knights' NRL and NYC teams, will also involve a substantial investment in community and youth programmes and events.

Hunter Ports Chairman Mr Nathan Tinkler confirmed the decision to support both these Newcastle icons was about community participation and to ensure the Hunter continued to grow as a commercial and sporting destination.

"It is an exciting time for Hunter Ports to join forces with other national and international brands to ensure Newcastle is a better place for us to live and most importantly bring up our families who can now enjoy international quality sport all year round," he said.

"I am particularly enthusiastic about our community programmes that will create elite sporting and career pathways and our community engagement that will ensure both the Jets and the Knights are valuable members and contributors to the Hunter community. With this investment we are supporting the Hunter Sports Group strategy of making sport affordable and accessible for the families of the Hunter.”

Hunter Ports is an exciting project that is developing a proposal for a new coal loader in Newcastle and is currently working on a range of technical, financial and environmental options to determine its viability.

Hunter Ports is working to achieve environmental best practices setting new benchmarks for the industry in Newcastle and to make a positive contribution to the community.

Hunter Ports join companies like NIB, Klosters, ISC, Draytons Wines, NBN, McDonalds, Newcastle Herald and Radio 2HD that have embraced the concept of sponsoring and supporting both the Newcastle Jets and the Knights.

Several other major sponsorship and corporate partnerships across both Clubs are expected to be announced over the coming weeks.

The HSG start a major eight days of sport from Saturday with the Jets taking on Melbourne Heart, the Netball International on Sunday between Australia and England while on Sunday week the eyes of the rugby league world will be on Ausgrid Stadium when the Australian Kangaroos take on the Kiwis.

So our new major sponsor is Tinkler! The Hunter Ports logo should blend well with our current jersey which is a great thing, i'd hate to see something like what the Broncos had with WOW.

Anyone have a pic of the logo?

Every sponsor will have a Tinkler influence to it now.

Thankyou to Coal & Allied for their services. They practically saved us.

The team which was "saved" by Tinkler will now be sponsered by a Tinkler company that wants to destroy the city. Have to have a LOL at that.

Obviously Tinkler will be needing, through his self or his company be providing a good piece of the ten million a year quarnatee.

I don't like the logo at all, I think the simpler logos look better on the jerseys, like the simplicity and symetricalness? of the Coal and Allied logo. I think the script is a bit thin and I don't like how it's not symmetrical but well get used to it.

I think on our new jersey the white unframed logo would look pretty cool. Its the same as the coal and allied logo now. Red and Blue soccer team now? Has Tinkler changed the Jets colours to the Knights? I thought it was blue and yellow? haha:badgrin:

Well the Jets logo is red and blue and the stadium is as well so it would be better if both Newcastle teams wore red and blue.

His many companies are coming in to sponsor the team woo hoo and the other thing is each of his companies can also pay side payments to the players as well so finally we can pay more to players to get or keep them like the Bronco,s and a lot of others do .

My internet is running really slowly today. That photograph of the soccer players modelling the jerseys started off really pixellated and slowly became clearer. When it was really pixellated, I could see two people wearing red and blue jerseys and I deadset thought it was the 1997 Knights jersey! I, like someone else already stated, thought the soccer team wore gold. I knew we were stuck with the 2011 Knights jersey for another 2 years, but for a brief moment, I thought we'd somehow gotten a reprieve and had reverted back to that style of jersey.

Yeah I was just watching a bit of the soccer to see what the logo looks like on the jersey and saw those Jets jerseys. They look magnificent!!! Hopefully the Knights can get something similar someday ...
