Great Wins & Heartbreaking Losses

Preliminary final vs Manly I think it was 2006 when Mullen scored the field goal than ran the length of the field and got pulled up a metre short, then Brian carney scored the match sealer.

Also sucked cause bedsy got suspended, and we got worked the next week against the Broncos.

Can't remember the year but it was in the very early 90's I think. Wests beat us at the SFS in a semi final 3-0................. That was an heartbreaker!

A great win was the first time we played Brisbane at Suncorp and we really towelled them up............ Gee I enjoyed that one!

4..1997 semi final , Darren Alberts last minute tackle on Matt Sears . Albert ran from one corner to the other and tackled Sears over the corner post to get us in to the Grand Final .

Ah yes, I forgot about that one................Probably the best cover tackle ever made by a knights player............. Two speedsters there!!!!!

I've only attended games since 2007 & didn't start going to games regularly until 2009 & even then they were only home games, so some of the memorable games i've been to over the recent years have been:

Wins
2009:
Rd 8 vs Broncos - The craziest game i've been to, lightning, getting drenched, 40 minute halftime, people screaming & we still came away with a win! :D

Rd 12 vs Bulldogs - Great game. We had no Gidley, no mcManus & no Mad Dog or Simpson, while the Bulldogs had everyone but Hannant. We were up 20-0 at halftime & Con Mika got a try on debut.

Rd 24 vs Cowboys - This was another great game, Thurston scored a smartass of a try which got the Cowboys rolling & they just kept rolling on the points. We were ****ed at halftime, but Mullen grabbed the game by its balls & revived the comeback by setting up tries & scoring a brilliant one himself to win the game 32-26.

Rd 26 vs Panthers - Awesome game, heaps of fun, 35-0 to take us into the Finals for the first time since 2006.

2010:
Rd 15 vs Eels - Complete bludger of game, sh*t game but it was all worth it for the feeling at the end. Gidley's goal & everyone went crazy!

Rd 24 vs Broncos - Awesome game, best Knights game of 2010 IMO, 3 records equalled in this one, 44 points scored by our boys, was a great atmosphere too & Cooper Vuna made sure he wasn't forgotten by getting his name in the record books with 4 tries!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Losses
2009:
Rd 13 vs Eels - This was devastating for me haha, we had just broken our record for most wins at home in a row, i was expecting them to continue on because at this point most people came to the games feeling confident of a win no matter who we versed. It was a great feeling & when we lost i was completely devastated. We shouldn't really have lost it anyway.

Rd 21 vs Roosters - Another bad loss that shouldn't have happened, this & Rd 13 were our only losses at home in 2009, amazing!

2010:
Rd 4 vs Panthers - Was so ****ed after the game, we were up 24-6 at halftime & lost it, how the **** did we manage that???

Rd 9 vs Titans - Another game we could've really won, it was exciting though, a point fest all day & everyone was on the edge of their seats, Dureau had a bloody good game but got blamed for the loss when he unfortunately kicked out on the full when they had to try & win it.

Pretty sure Dureau got the blame because he let in 3 tries if that's the game I'm thinking of.

The round 21 game against Sydney sucked big time!

Most frustrated I have been as a Knights fan just about, to see  Ben Jones and Pearce play good made me sick!

Pretty sure Dureau got the blame because he let in 3 tries if that's the game I'm thinking of.

That was the Warriors game at home wasn't it?

Ahh, who knows, Dureau ****ed us over big time in at least three games in 2010.

Vs. Western Suburbs 1995 (23-22)

Another wonderful win ... I still have no idea how Ainscough kicked that drop goal with seconds left ... left footed, 30 metres out, from the sideline and from a random desperate offload.

One of the great unexpected wins!!!

Surprised no one tips the 1998 play off against the Bulldogs when a certain Super League referee could not see it clear to give us a penalty in the entire second half and in the extra 20 minutes either!

Pretty sure we went for an eighty minute period with no penalties in that game. Dreadful. And when the team was playing with the sort of heart I don't think I've seen another team play with before or since.

...how about the 2000 game against Parra? 'the easter miracle' when Billy Peden raced away for the match winner! it was glorious!

Great game, against a full strength Parra side, and us with no Andrew Johns. Parra didn't make a single error in the second half, but we still ran em down!

That week went from one of the best to one of the most demoralising.

We should have won the comp in 2006.

Pretty hard to make a case for it, considering the eventual premiers belted us by 50 the next week!

A few I can think of
Great wins I remember seeing...
- For a while being the team that had the highest win against the Broncos when we spanked them 44-0
- Beating the Souths 60-0 in 1999
- Beating the Raiders 22-20 on their own turf. We were on the back foot the whole time and Finch handed us the game, not a great win but just one I remember haha
- Avoiding the spoon in 2007 against the Tigers after also being behind the whole game.
- The 18-10 win against the Sharks in the 2001 GF qualifier, IMO the win that probably gave the team the confidence to win the GF, we just kept at it and it paid off
- Our 15-10 win against the Eels in 2005 at Parra Stadium, damn impressive considering the circumstances
- The Darren Albert try in the last minute against the Dragons, 1999? We won something like 22-20
- Joey converting from the sideline to beat the Dragons 32-30

Heartbreaking Losses
- Losing something like 36-32 despite leading like 30-0 or something (no Joey IIRC though)
- Losing 30-26 against the Warriors at home in 2005, even without Joey midway I was hoping we would have been able to hang on
- Losing 18-4 against the Storm in 2008 at their home turf
- Losing 23-24 against the Eels in 2007 at Parra Stadium

Not the most original ones but ones I thought were good wins and heartbreaking losses

The whole Buderus thing stuffed us over big time. Of course he deserved suspension, it was an ugly tackle. But we would have had a much better chance if he played that game I have no doubt. Add the injury to Seage which caused Gidley to go back to fullback (at that time he wasn't as good)

Brisbane came from no where that year.

I think Gidley to fullback was an improvement over Seage, he won player's player in the Manly game and the Brisbane game. Those two games and the 2007 season were his best at fullback.

But Simpson was also out of the Brisbane game injured.

If it was the next season, we would have been rewarded for our win over Manly with another home game, instead we travelled to the SFS.

But the fact is, we were smashed ... our defence was dodgy that year, and after an incredible first 10 or so rounds we went off the boil and limped into the top four. I never really rated us a chance of winning the comp as we came into the finals. But that Manly win was awesome though!!!

If the grand final was in round 6 we woulda won easily. Those opening rounds would have to be amoungst the best form a team has been in during my time watching the game.

Parramatta was a very solid win in the opening round. We beat an extremely understrength Canberra side by 1000. The Bulldogs and Dragons sides we demolished were pretty good from memory. Lost to Warriors without Johns. And then the loss to the Cowboys was one of the better games that season in terms of build-up, and living up to expectation.

As the season dragged on it seemed a lot of our players were getting tired, and Johns even admitted he was losing interest at times. From memory we lost 4 in a row around Origin time, then finished reasonably strong to get a home qualifying final.

Nice video thank you very much for posting it here to watch all tha best

The start to the season reminded me so much of 2002. That was another year we began absolutely on fire, in fact, probably even more than 2006.

In fact, 2002 our for and against was +182 after six rounds. :-o

Really? didnt know that. Suppose I was only 11, so a lot of my footy memories are sketchy from back then. Only things from 2002 I remember are the GF Warriors V Roosters, attending my first knights game (rnd26) where we just missed out on the Minor premiership, the semi the following week where Johns broke his back thanks to Baileys knees, and we still almost won, and Johns hobbling up to accept the Dally M.

Haha, I was 21! Flew over with my brother for the grand final ... after that great start to the season I expected the Knights to be there again and make it back to back.

Was a good bonus when the Warriors made it, but then they had to go and lose ...

went to so many games but 1 i remember was at home and sitting on the hill and the storm was so bad the teams didnt come back out at half time they were given an extra 10 or 15 minutes break to let that mighty storm pass bet that hasnt happened too often lol

Fine, pick away at his carcass you vulture

He sigle handedly won us the Sharks game in 2009 when Ciraldo broke his leg and we had not interchange.

The B Smith dropped him the next week, did not do his confidience any good.

Vive La France, Dureau!
