I think Dugan is a future Origin star, just not sure it's this year. He said it himself, he is still learning the game. However I do see:

1. Dugan
5. Hayne
14. Gidley

A possibillity, but realistically cannot see it happening so let's not get upset with the fact he wont play game 1, Hustler.

If we go down Game 1, we might see Dugan.

True but I dont want us to lose the first game and bring him under a must win situation and then complain he crumbled under pressure .. just want the kid to have a free run and enjoy the game
 
I just doubt a 19 year old rookie playing fullback is going to 'win' us Origin. It's a team sport, and we have two blokes in Gidley or Hayne just as capable.

Pressure is what it's all about, if he crumbles than he wasn't up to it in the first place.
 
Why are you all putting so much time into Hayne? All this crap about him being being in form and right for the blues is crap. He played a good 9 games last year (out of 27, plus rep games) and only excelled in a team that played better than him. You can't pull out 5minutes of great work in an 80minute game and expect it to win. I would love to see Hayne thrown out of Origin and Australia for a season or 2 and give him something to work towards. He is a selfish player who will make 10-20 runs in hope that one of them pays off and it usualy doesn't.
 
It always bugged me how Qld always take chances with their young uns and it pays off almost all the time and we always complain about kids crumblng under pressure maybe it's our curse :fist:

To be honest he was outstanding during the origin probably the best player for Nsw and we already know about his talent so why not?

Yes, i know your a raiders fan, and you admire his talent, and noone denies his talent what so ever. But he is young, very young. Hasnt got that much first grade experience as it is, yet alone experience in a big game.

Whether its the first or last game NSW cannot afford to wing it this year, they need to play with proven performers. Im not crash hot on Hayne, especially with his efforts this year, nor with Gidleys in his few performances, but theyve been there before, and they wont let the whole big deal of origin get to them. In 2-3 years time i have no doubt, if he is still in the NRL, he will be the starting FB, especially if he continues his form. But you have to crawl before you can walk, youd be doing the kid a massive injustice by throwing him out there right now.
 
Hayne's been our best Origin player for the past two years IMO.

Was by far our best last year and from memory had a decent 08 series too. To say he shouldn't be there is ridiculous.

Morris & Hayne - finally feel safe with the wingers as opposed to who we've had in the past.

McManus/Williams/Quinn/Turner.

Well at this point, QLD has has solid structure amongst the team for years, Slater, Lockyer, Smith, Thurston, Inglis.
even well before that, they had no shortage of quality in the team, and for years they played well together, so big changes werent needed, and a debut or 3 in a game could be done cos they knew the others would rise to help if need be.

NSW is on the backfoot, the only thing that will help them is the hope Smith and Thurston are either not fit to play or very ginger when they do.
Theres plenty of talent in NSW but they need to pick a compatitble team, not of 17 individuals, but a team

Hayne won the Brad Fittler medal for NSW player of the year in 2007 and 2009. To drop him altogether is about the silliest suggestion I've ever read on this forum.

As for Dugan, perhaps if he was miles ahead of Hayne and Gidley, it'd be worth the punt, but he isn't. He's no superstar yet Hustler, you're being very biased! :lol:
 
it would have to be gidley with hayne on the wing gidleys form since he has come back has been great much better than hayne's form
 
Dumping him would be harsh, I would like too see Hayne switch too fullback sometime in the game and Kurt play as a utillity.
