What a disgrace.

Woefully played, poor handling by both teams, suspect refereeing and even our own Kurt Gidley has a shocker. If this is the best International Rugby League has to offer with out of season and out of form players let it R-I-P!

You're a bit of a fool if you judge international league in it's entirety on one match ... you just have to watch the NZ vs Aus 20-all draw to see how good it can be ... or the World Cup final last year.

Why is it that everytime Australia has a big win in rugby league there's some nutter going round saying RIP international league? It hasn't survived 100+ years for no reason.

There was some great attacking football in the game, Gidley made one error but defended well and had a pretty good game imo.

I have to agree with James and mozza...it was a decent game. Sure, not one of the best, but you can put that down to England not putting up an effort in the second half.

If anything, with the Four Nations, Pacific Cup and European Cup this season ... all providing very entertaining games and usually to a pretty high standard, I think the international game is going better than it has done for many a year.

Just a shame the next World Cup is another four years away!!!

I think having the World Cup in 4 years is a good thing. Gives those countries an opportunity to get better and better while having mini tournaments like the Four Nations, European Cup and Pacific Cup.

Can anyone please tell me why Kurt Gidley replaced Hodges? I watched the game, but had to pop out of the room for a minute. When I came back, he was in the centres and we never saw Hodges again (which isn't a bad thing!).

I don't recall there being any talk of any injuries (apart from that English fella who got knocked out).

I missed the exact same thing but I was happy to see Kurt on the field at the end of the game, he's normally on the bench then :)

Probably because Hodges wasn't pulling his weight. The bloke hasn't hit form for a long time, him being selected for Australia is wrong anyways.

Haha! Corunetes makes a good point!
I had to laugh as the national anthems were being played. During the Aussie one, the camera panned along the Aussie team. All players were singing along ... until it came to Hodges. He had this blank 'derr' kinda look on his face and as far as I can remember, he was the only one not singing along!

You guys are kidding me!

As the final of the world spectacle it was a disgrace. Far better games each and every week in the NRL. At this rate it won't be long before we reach the level of the Wobblies!

He is saying that england lacked creativity not the international game is dying.
I watched the game again and really england couldnt do much to stop the attack aus were throwing at them.

Reilly just seems to say England played crap, which most of us on here agree with! Unless I'm missing something in that article.
