First Test: Australia v England @ GABBA

Hussey and Haddin have turned a game in the balance to a game Australia pretty much cannot lose. Great partnership and a great confidence booster for the team early in the series. Australia would be in a bad spot if not for those two and Siddle.
 
Great effort from Huss and Haddin still confident of an Australian 3-1 victory this summer.
 
I have always rated Siddle as one of Australia's top line bowlers, ahead of Johnson and Hilfenhaus. Still very confused as to how Hilfy made it ahead of Dougy. Missed all of the match except for the last half hour due to camping, very cut as I like Hussey and Siddle the most in the Australian team, them two have been on fire!

It was an awfully hard catch mate, not a simple walk in the park, he had in his finger tips and then lost it when he hit the deck. I though it was a good effort never the less.
 
Are we all still confident? What did I tell you about Finny? 6fer in the 1st inns!!!

Australia can't take 20 England wickets in a game. They didn't in Cardiff in '09 and lost the series. So much for the Gabbatoir!!!

Finn was decent but Anderson was easily the best of the bowlers I was shocked how great he's bowled and with no luck aswell.
Our attack is average Notch needs to get the tap on the shoulder before Adelaide, Bollinger and Harris can fight for his spot.

Yep, im still confident England will win the ashes.
 
Bollinger needs to be in there! I never saw the light at the end of the tunnel selecting Hilfenhaus over our best bowler in the country! Siddle is a MUST for mine, same with Bollinger, and well, Johnson I really can't see getting the hook, he isn't a form quick bowler but he will still get selected by name.
 
If Johnson goes wicketless this game he has to go.

He wont... but I think a stat come up, his last 12 innings he has had 6 ducks.

His batting is just as important as his bowling, which has also gone awol.

Also might add... Michael Clarke GTFO.

He knew he was injured... sat in slips all of yesterday and dropped that catch.

His batting he struggled. He should have sat out.

Personally I'd bring in a guy like Smith or O'keefe for North, and bollinger for Johnson.

Clarke rubs me the wrong way as well. Theyd be smart to replace him with a Hodge or David Hussey (55.7 first class average i think), but they want the future so ferguson or Khawaja would come in. However, none of this will happen and Clarke will stay coz the selectors love him.

I didn't say anything about North? I think he should get another shot his bowling alone is as good as Hauritz or Doherty, he needs to make runs in Adelaide though.

Hmm, his bowling is decent, however he's in the team predominately as a batsmen. If he's failing with the bat, which he is, he's got to go.
 
Clarke drops an absolute sitter at 1st slip.

And did anyone see Johnson's wide ball?

Was just as bad as this time 4 years ago.

It's simple.. Australia cannot take 20 wickets in a test match, changes have to made to the side for the next test match otherwise this series could get very ugly.

SUGGESTIONS
​

1. Rest: Michael Clarke, he has to be rested I mean seriously 9 runs from 50 balls?? There is no way this guy is at 100% and we need players who can contribute 110% not only with the bat but also in the field which Clarkey certainly hasn't been able to do.

1. Replacement: Usman Khawaja, don't be fooled this guy is certainly no Michael Clarke just yet, however he is 100% fit and is striking the ball well is easily the next choice batsman for Australia.

2. Drop: Marcus North, he has scored 5 overseas hundreds and for some strange reason that seems to be enough to warrant selection in the side. His performances on home soil has been very poor and there is a huge advantage for Australia dropping him for the Adelaide test in regards to making way for other players.

2. Replacement: Steven Smith, he is still a bit raw when it comes to test match cricket however he's bowling certainly couldn't be any worse then Doherty or North. Replacing these two guy's with Smith free's up another bowling position in the side and also gives Australia some fresh legs down the order when it comes to runs.

3. Drop: Xavier Doherty, with the selection of Smith this solves the problem of having to select a specialist spinner which in my opinion is a complete waste. Just look at Doherty & Swann's performances in Brisbane.
Xavier is arguably our best spinner at the moment however his bowling isn't devastating enough to keep Smith out of the side that can offer runs aswell.

3. Replacement: Ryan Harris, certainly looks like he enjoys a good feed but you have to give it to him he's performances over the last 12 months have been awesome. Offers Australia great depth in regards to bowling and giving us a glimmer of hope in taking 20 wickets in a test match.

4. Drop: Mitchell Johnson, unfortunately Mitchell has lost his pace. He used to offer around the 150 mark and without this pace he has simply lost his edge. If you are going to pick a bowler who is bowling around 130-135 you are better off selecting someone in form.

4. Replacement: Doug Bollinger, I always said no to stress out Doug would always be getting an opportunity in the series. I think everyone was optimistic with Mitchell with some recent wickets playing at State level however it certainly hasn't carried over to International test cricket.

I'm loving that side you have selected Frosty, only weakness I see there is the middle order. I don't really rate Steve Smith as a middle order test batsmen, I would have him in there but I think Haddin needs to go to 6 before Smith.
