Without trying to jinx it, I think we can pretty much assume we'll be in the finals, but I was wondering who you guys would rather play in the finals.

For me, Dragons would have to be at the top of the list, considering we usually have a good record against them, or possibly Manly, as we always have amazing finals matches against them.

Definitely wouldn't want Melb, and I don't think we've had to great a record against Broncos away?

Do not want to touch Manly. I know they lost to the Tigers, but come finals time I think it's a three horse race between Melbourne, Manly and the Dragons. At the moment the Dragons look the most vulnerable but their roster is good enough to bring it home.

The Cowboys, Broncos, Warriors and Tigers are all beatable (tigers seem to only lift against certain opposition and we don't seem to be one of them). Others we look out for would be Penrith and the Dogs in terms of them leaping us. I mean we could hit a rough patch of form and the Panthers and Doggies are only a few great games away, probably more so for teh Doggies who showed they can produce some good games, but of late they just can''t put things together.

Synopsis, this yaer is a 3 horse race, with the only exception being the return of Thurston to spark the Cowboys, and Marshall producing freakish form (which he is capable of, and is doing so but it'll be an even more superhuman effort). At the moment Melbourne are definitely the team to beat, no dobut about it and if I had to wager i'd put money on them lightyears ahead of everyone else.

I also forgot that the Knights will most likely win the premiership...just you wait.
 
Probably the Dragons, would hate to verse Manly at Brookie or Melbourne at AAMI.
 
See I find the cowboys to be more of a threat then Dragons or Manly, going alright at the moment, but they will be great when Thurston returns.

Also on Manly, I know on form they are miles ahead of us, and we probably wouldn't win that game, but I do hope we play Manly at some point just because they are such good games. Keeping in mind that both games against Manly this year have been dreadful.
 
i correct myself. The thread should be: "Who does everybody not want to play in the finals?" and the answer is "THE KNIGHTS".
 
i wouldn't want the Knights playing Melbourne or Manly or the Broncos. Melbourne or Manly cos it'll mean the knight finished 7th or 8th and well deferently be out if we lose, and with melbourne we have this habit of being in it, be it trailing by 2 or 4 or even winning by 4 or 6 and then losing it in the last 10.

The Broncos, simply because they cheat, they always get the 50/50 calls, they seem to get penalties for the things the other team arnt and they always seem to set a string of penalties or the opposition get back error calls when the bronco's are losing to ensure they get back in front. So simply the refs would make sure we lost.

Knights best chances are either playing the Dragons or Cowboys at Wollongong or Townsville respectively. We seem to good at beating them at their home grounds, and the Dragons might be nice and choke for us :D.
 
Too early to be talking about this, but personally I can't see us beating any of the rest of the top eight, particularly away from home.

But for this team this season, making the eight is a great achievement. And it'll be excellent experience for next year.
 
If we turn up and play to our potential, Mullen is kicking great, forwards are going forward, backs are getting the ball, a few calls go our way, we can beat any team.
Its 13 on 13 out there and its still footy, anything can happen.
 
Let's wait and see. Two points next weekend would be nice and the Doggies final game see us on 28 points which will be enough, with hopefully one win between Broncos, Warriors and Rabbits.
 
It'd be a fair old disaster to miss out from here.

I think they can start printing up the finals series 2011 t-shirts!!! (Maybe do a few less than in 2009).
 
Id like to say that it will IMO be a NQ/Melbourne grand final but Manly will be tough so stay away from them, Id like to see us play the dragons or brisbane, thats our best chance
 
I can't see us playing anyone but the Storm or the Sea Eagles..we won't over take the Warriors cause they have a superior F/A and more points on the board. The Broncos or Cowboys will not overtake Melbourne or Manly, again cause they have more points and a better points differencial...
 
The only team in the eight I think we have it over is Wests, should of beaten them when we played them last IMO. They just don't seem like a big threat, probably about on par with us this season. Definately wouldn't like to face any of the Storm, Sea Eagles, Cowboys or Broncos. With a big crowd behind them, NQL just lift to another level and seem unstoppable at home.

Knowing our luck we would miss out on the finals from here, 2008 I thought we we're odds on to make it but in the end just a few too many close losses.

Anyone but Manly, they love dusting us and take pleasure in doing so.
 
NF47, Wests aren't a threat? I realise you have an irrational hate of Marshall and I guess Wests, but did you see them smoke Manly on Friday?!?!

A few THOUSAND less I thinks. Wonder what our cheesy catch line will be this year if we get there?

Yeh I think Tigers are pretty lethal at times but they're also complete gits at other times. Much like us it's whoever shows up on the day.

Wests have been inconsistent all year, some games they look like world beaters (i.e Manly game on Friday), other games they look like Wests of the early 2000's that would get put through the cleaners every second week. I don't hate Marshall by any means, I love watching him play he is fantastic at times. I just think he is a tad overrated, not neccesarily his fault all the time, the media over do it by a longshot, similar story with Braith Anasta.

However your right, I do hate Wests and I did happen to watch the full 80 on Friday night. Wests put together an unbeatable second half, they are inconsistent much like us though and I just don't see them as a genuine threat. They are nothing compared to what they were last year.
 
I think with Lawrence and Ellis back they are beginning to come into their own and will challenge for the title.

And I don't know anyone who rates Anasta haha.
 
With the position we are on the ladder, if we don't make the finals it would be a bloody disgrace. But i can't see us beating anyone in the finals, but we could push a few teams.
