Finals Week 1 vs Rabbitohs - 7:50pm Friday 11th of September - Allianz Stadium

I think if Manu plays, that’s still a decent side. Yes, we need Saulo to have a game starting like he did against the dogs.
Whilst I’ve said we need to know when to pull back our attack at times this year. I reckon we just go all out attack for this one, throw caution to the wind. Only way we’ll win, we aren’t gonna match any team in the forwards.

Time to summon our Lord and saviour:

ESL needs to turn water into wine in Cup to get his shot in FG. Don't mind that strategy considering how stacked we are for edge forwards.

One thing that doesn't make sense though is why Cant holds a first mortgage on the back up spot despite both Crossland and Graham being available making redundant Cant as an option at hooker

Crossland wasn't available last week. Cant can play multiple positions in the pack; he's a workhorse (and every team needs them), and he's actually played pretty well recently, AND he's usually fit and available and can play 90 if need be. Maybe because we have some superstars in similar positions, but he gets no credit for the good stuff and is absolutely castigated if anything goes even slightly wrong.

It's beyond annoying that we just seem to have one bloke who cops everyone's angst no matter what he does, until recently it was Hunt even though many were pointing out the kid's a gun he's just young, all we were hearing from some was ....he can't play, he's a muppet, get rid of him...and here we not too much time has passed and we're all wondering how we keep him given the money he'll attract from other clubs desperate for a "muppet" of this quality.

I'm still backing Tommy Cant to become, at the very least, a workhorse most will be happy to see on the team sheet week in and week out.

Thankfully we need our fowards for defence rather than attack but far out its frustrating to see so much of our starting pack sitting on the sideline, especially now that we have made the finals. Hopwood and Crouch have been fantastic but this is a finals game and its played at a different speed to the rest of the year.
Big Dom and Greg and his extra leg are going need to really make an impact coming out of our end or we are going to be playing stuck in the mud for 80 minutes.

Even with a light forward pack, we can use our backline to make metres. The one time we struggled to play that game was against Parra at home when their fast line speed prevented us from playing our game. If Souths do that we may struggle. On the same note, Souths really struggle with fitness through the 80 mins and tend to tire. That may be our saving grace and provide some more opportunities through the middle. Titans did it last week, so did Parra a few weeks back, even our match with them earlier on in the season at Accor, they really gassed towards the last 15-20mins.

Assuming both Hola and Jones get through the NSW Cup game this weetk they will likely be our backup for semi, Can see ESL as backup for Manu. If Hola and Jones come through ok they will likely join Hopwood, Crouch and Frizell making us at least competitive.
Am hopeful of a win in Cup and then a win in 1sts, but if neither happen then I am still happy I am happy that we got further than I hoped for.
Can’t wait for 2027

I’m happy also, but jeez disappointed we got all these injuries at the backend of the season. Anyway we have a game, I can see it being a close game with the Bunnies.

I would love to see us mix up our last tackle options, let's face it we have no depth to our kicks. Why not kick to the corners, try and find the grass and make them work it out of yardage.

It seems to me we are always the team rucking it out from deep within our half as we always give opposition a simple catch where they just eat up the metres.

The thing about resting key players for the last round is that that was the only round anyone could conceivably have gotten injured or suspended in. If it happened against Manly it wouldn’t have been an “I told you so” because it didn’t happen, it couldn’t have happened, impossible. That’s why no one was saying “maybe we should rest the entire team” before that game. There’s an injury and suspensions fairy we had been receiving blessings on that we only forget to visit in rounds 2, 21 and 26. Those are the “danger rounds”. Only an idiot does not know this.
