I would say 'as long as they don't play Canberra in Canberra' cos the knights used to have an absolutely horrid record there, ironically in the post John's era they've been able to win there a lot more often.
Roosters are probably the bogey side in the finals, Knights are 1 win and 5 losses to them in finals.

It's Canberra for me over the last few years except last year we have a good record against them.

Even last year they only just beat us, and wighton,tomoko,papalli strike power ? Please paps is a spent force and wighton is good for 1 big play every week or 2
 
I think the way we are playing now we can beat all the sides in the top 8 bar Panthers and Broncos. But, we have shown we can compete against them also. I’m going from quietly confident to confident. I was thinking yesterday of throwing a 50 on us to win the premiership. We were paying $76 and still are at the moment.

Because of the draw with Manly we are the only team in contention for the finals with an odd points total, so the points differential is nice but will not affect where we finish.
 
Broncos and Panthers are still beatable. People may laugh at that but Panthers are great but there is something off about them has anyone else felt the same? Broncos are much the same. I think when the pressure is really on the Broncos can fall to bits.

If Knights keep competing like they have then absolutely anything can happen.
 
How good that we are in a position now that we could lose next week and still be in the 8.

If we can keep it going against the Sharks and bank those points, likely we finish the next round in 5th as Raiders have the Broncos next week and the Raiders have no business being in the 8.

And then finish off against the Dragons away with nothing to play for in the last round to cement 5th.

Storm are at home to Titans next week so likely they will sew up 4th.

But 5th is the sweet spot as this means we likely play 8th at home week 1, then 4th and finally 2nd or 3rd for a GF spot.

Otherwise, if we finish 6th we play 7th at home, then 2nd or 3rd and then 1st for a spot in the GF.

Broncos have had a dream draw ( as usual ) not much travel and 7 day turn arounds the norm. I looked through their draw couple of weeks ago they are flat track bullies.

Losses to the top 8 sides include
Raiders * 6 points ( at home )
Rabbits * 26 points ( at home )
Storm * 8 points
Panthers,*11 points ( at home )

Average points loss versus top 8 sides = 12.75

With close wins against Knights* 4 points ( at home ) , Warriors *4 points , Panthers * 1 point, Rabbits 16 points , and Sharks * 8 points ( at home )

Average points win versus top 8 sides = 6.6

They are pretenders, with the usual perennial leg up the NRL affords them

I don’t think that’s the most meaningful stat mate, especially when you factor in the players which were missing for that Souths loss.

When a team has the best attack & second best defence in the comp, and a 17-5 record, I don’t think people saying that team is probably pretty good are deluded.

Nobody is denying that they are good but they have been beaten. If they hadn’t lost a game all year then you’d be seriously concerned that it couldn’t be done. Losses are proof they aren’t unbeatable. Same with Panthers.

The closeness of the comp this year has been so enjoyable.

Yep I was just thinking this morning I’d fly up to Auckland for that!

Think we’d be a chance too, the Warriors have dropped away a bit the last few weeks, while still winning.
 
Likely scenario is at end of season
we finish 5th will play the home game vs Raiders (rabbits,cowboys won't make it) rooster will jump to 7th vs sharks

we win that
we will play storm
warriors will play sharks/roosters

we win that
we will play the broncos
and if win that we will paly either warriors or Panthers

to avoid this root and go the other way we need to finish 6th
we would then
play roosters at home
we win that we then will play warriors in NZ
win that we then play the NRL favourite toy the Panthers and play either Bronx or Melbourne in the big one
