Ex-Knights Watch

Defeats the purpose of being closer to family though doesn't it? Born and Bred Taree boy and lived in newy for 7 seasons after returning from Canberra being a newy junior... I think newy or Sydney is the landing spot
Wouldn't be the first time someone has used family as an excuse to move somewhere, and living in QLD is definitely closer to family than NZL plus the money he could get would be the best way to look after his family right?
I also think he will move somewhere in NSW but strange things happen all the time in the NRL

Players only leave the Knights for personal reasons not the other way around. Brisbane or Roosters will get him I bet.

SEN reported his family is in "northern nsw" and listed brisbane , gold coast and newcastle as options. i thought his family was from the mid north coast which would only leave us but who knows.
lets hope somethings already been done and that was the reason for moving jones on. Be a real shame if he had to leave immediatly and a player swap with jones is being finalised 😁

He’s a great player but he’s 33 in 2027, coming off an ACL
If we could get him for two years in the 450-500K per season range I'd bet on him providing great value on that.

If you have any optimism at all about the Knights achieving anything in the next decade 2027 is a critical season, probably the only season where it will be possible to keep all of Kalyn, Flarpe, Dom, Bradman, DylBro, DylLuc, McEwen, JSaf, Mooney & Hopwood all on the books at once if the young blokes like Jermaine, Mooney & Hopwood all kick on like we hope. A lot of key young guys will pass 35-50+ first grade games towards the back end of 2027 and that tends to be around the time when young guys really take a massive leap. Having Barnett in the forward rotation that season, I can't imagine that as being anything other than huge for us even if he's a bit diminished.

If you were trying to time a run for a crack at a premiership, that's the season you'd circle right now. Try to make finals get seasoning against a top four team this year then take a real crack at it next year. Obviously sounds far fetched given how bad we were in 2025, but those turnarounds happen all the time in footy, and over the next few seasons after this one the quality of the comp more broadly is going to be diluted by the new teams coming in, which means if you've timed your roster build to have a lot of key guys locked down over those seasons you might be able to profit. As we've seen with Brisbane in 2025, if you can just make the top four and you have a couple of the most dynamic players in the game, anything can happen.

Some interesting selections for former knights players for round 1. Ben Talty has really become a regular now for the premiers. Chris Vea'ila is in ths 19 at the sharks. Simi Sasagi starting at centre for the raiders, Brailey makes his club debut off the bench alongside Zac Hosking. Paul Bryan a reserve at Manly. Kurt Donaghoe starting at hooker for the Dolphins with Oryn Keeley in 15 and Seb S'ua in 18.

You never know with kids though, plenty look better but don't want it bad enough. We've also hung onto a few locals in that versatile middle/edge archetype and he's probably better than all the ones we actually kept lol. I think he'd be starting at lock for us right now if he was still at the club.

But yes it may become easier to not care about it in the future.

I still hold the opinion of Hosking being a tall twiggy but tough 13 for us in Cup, left then popped up at Brisbane 20kg heavier. I was scratching my head at his size, he looked nothing like he did here. Our biggest miss was from Penrith to Canberra. Should have picked him up there.

From memory Hosking was dead keen on coming back but we didn't want him. It didn't make sense to me at the time and it still doesn't know. But its good to see him doing well.

Would love to have Donoghue back. Just like the way he plays the game and think he's a bit of a cheat code off the bench. But I think that ship has long sailed.

Maybe we could convince DSaf to come back on a team friendly deal to finish his career when his contract expires.

Hetherington not in the Storm 20 for tonight. That’s weird because everyone has been saying he’ll be a revelation and Bellamy will turn him into a star.
He’s a guy who’s size and frame should really just be an autopick for the 13 but he’s so penalty prone and sometimes has terrible hands you just don’t know what you’re going to get. Reminds me of when Tariq Sims had his pillow games for us.

Still think of what could have been had he just put in each game and then not thrown in the towel early.

The club was such a mess behind the scenes then.
