Dylan Brown discussion

There’s still a spot for Gamble I think, he can cover halves and hooker. Useful back up.
Yeah if we assume Crossland is 9 going forward you only really have one as the 14/utility then. Both off contract
Cogger would have to take quite the cut and settle for playing in reserves but I could understand if Gamble left to start elsewhere.
Good to have to account for unpredictable injuries I guess

I also fully expect them to see out their contracts but it does seem like they are auditioning early for spots elsewhere

Lol, Fox are now playing - Dylan Brown: The Journey, at 10:30pm tonight. From what I can gather, it's a repeat of a 2022 show.

Really interested hearing Cleary’s thoughts on Dylan Brown on 100% Footy. Gave him a wrap for how square he plays and how good he is at creating space for his outside men (move over Cogs, there’s a new straightener in town). Also explained that in big finals games the most valuable thing you can have as a half is a great running game, because of how fatigued your forwards and backs can get. Essentially said you lose half your team during long passages of the game in possession due to that fatigue, so it becomes almost mandatory for him to step up and take yardage carries even as a halfback. He ran for over 220 metres in the grand final from memory, which is insane, but then his teammates had so much more petrol in the tank for the second half hey…

There wouldn’t be many better power running halves than Dylan Brown.

Might be best if it’s a bit more family friendly. Remember people of all ages use the forum.

Anyway, let’s forget about it lol.

Next off season has to be all about DylBro.
He isn't yet the player we need, so we have to put a lot of time and effort into turning him into an organising 7.

I don't like using Nathan Brown as an example, but I watched several of his "opposed sessions" when Ponga arrived, and that entire pre-season was about turning Ponga into the best version possible of himself. Some players like Brent Naden, Brayden Musgrove and Brodie Jones spent the entire off-season getting their pants pulled down by Ponga in different ways.

We can't expect him to walk in, take control, and lead us to the promised land. He is an athletic young guy with all the skills and tools, but he isn't the finished product. He isn't the top level organising halfback we need him to be at this stage. We need to get someone like a modern day Alan Bell to do what he did with Joey Johns and take him through all the skills, and we need to get the whole side taking their ques from Dyl.

No point working on a plan B next pre-season. Plan A or bust.
As they say in gambolling, we've spent our money and we takes our chances.

Really looking forward to seeing what AOB can do with him, I have to say.

This signing could really save AOB's bacon.

I imagine if we had another lackluster season of up and down just making the 8 again, the Knights may want to make a move either end of this year or part way through next if things are going great. I can see them wanting to make a change to save Ponga and try and bring in a coach that can take us further. Not saying OB definitely can't, but if he doesn't have the success taking us to the top 4 then...

Now that Dyl has signed, and having signed with AOB as the coach might lock AOB in for next season to see what he does with Dyl and Ponga combo. I hope he does very well obviously.

Will heavily watch Dyl from here on in and go back and watch some prior seasons but you can’t deny how exciting it could be. To have strike on each edge. Biggest issue right now which we are building on is strike on on both edges. KP can float sure but good defence will usually pick him out on the right.

Late last yr gamblor was setting KP and Friz and Gags/ Sharpe nicely on right, after he got injured Cogger came in and did an ok job himself but really lacks that strike.

Having Brown on right to either run or generally be a better player at putting his edge through gaps drawing it out wide is going to be a massive up tick in squads ability.

Starts now though. Left side should be deadly this yr, Cogs and KPP need to get there lines and understanding right to know when to successfully go short or out back. If we can’t get KPP 1:1 via a short ball in opening rounds I’ll be disappointed in said straightener.
