Dane Gagai Re-Signs with Knights until 2017

As far as I know the bulldogs contract has a lot of things to help their mother. But the mother dosnt want to leave Newcastle. So unless they buy her a house in Newcastle which surely Newcastle can do.

If we lose these young men to a rival club after they,re first sniff of first grade that will do me , no more loyalty from the club to home grown players and buy what we need from anywhere . What use is there in bringing players through the ranks if they will leave to the highest bidder as soon as they can .
These guys signed a letter of intent with the dogs very quickly and in my opinion they showed little loyalty to the club that helped them get to where they are now.
The club spends a lot of money over the years getting players to a skill and fitness level good enough to play first grade and I for 1 am sick and tired of losing our young talent to rival clubs .
Bullxxxt benny let a lot of young talent go because he tried to buy a premiership and did,nt give a rats what condition he left the club in for the future .
I love the way the brothers are with they,re Family and especially with they,re mum , we don't see enough family love like that anymore, but in my opinion they could have shown a bit more loyalty to the Knights ........
Don't give me too hard a time about this as really im just frustrated at losing great talent all the time and teams like the dogs being able to afford ( well anyone they want , do they have a salary cap too it does,nt seem so to me).

What do we think of the idea that soccer does in the transfer market where they pay a transfer fee to the club? That way when we spend the money and time bringing up rookies like the mata'utai brothers, the club gets a bit of cash if they move on. And same goes for other boom rookies.

I don't think it's fair to say that Bennett left us in a bad position, talent wise.
He did buy in a lot of old guys, but he also set up the high performance unit (with Graham Murray) to make the most of our local junior talent (Sione, Cogger, Lamb, Starling, O'Hagan, Dark, Robson etc) and he bought top quality juniors for NYC like Levi, Feeney, Pondekas, Petersen-Robati, Togiatasi, James Taylor - all top class juniors from other sides.
I'd go as far as saying we have the best crop of young players in our History right now.
We do, as you say, need to keep them, but when Bennett stepped out the door all these kids were still signed to the Knights. If we don't keep them - not Bennett's fault.
 
I'd be thoughtful not to give the credit to BS Benny. Tinker provided the money and the vision, Bennett just oversaw the rollout of that vision

Given what we know about BS Benny, I'd be reluctant to grant him any credit, for anything. Any benefit we have taken from his time as coach can be attributed to Tinkers cash and Bennett's short term attempt to win. Nothing he did at this club was considerate of 2015 and beyond
 
Well I agree with your down with Bennett policy, but the praising Tinkler side of things annoys me haha.

No doubt things were set up well on the junior side of things while he was here though ... I really don't know who the credit lies with, but we are in a good position now thanks to somebody's vision.
 
I'm more than happy to accept that the vision belonged to more than one person. Our juniors are a creation of a heap of people, probably with Tinkler just pushing the mantra of 'the biggest and the best'. But I refuse to accept that BS Benny had all that much to do with it. From all reports the bloke was "uninterested" at best
 
Tinks was a terrible businessman in every possible way, but the fact remains that he flushed a lot of money down the toilet trying to buy the knights a premiership and set the club up for long term success.
If I had 20 or 30 million to waste on a footy team, i'd have probably done all the same things Tinks did.
All he proved was you can't buy a premiership, but at least he had a shot.

As to Bennett's involvement in the junior programme, I believe he and Murray decided between them that the money should be used on a small number of players they identified at potential firstgraders - hence the high performance unit.
I didn't agree with that idea, but Sione played for Australia as an 18 year old and Cogger and Lamb are the most skillful 16 year olds i've ever seen, so the proof is in the pudding, and it's there for all to see.
He took no interest in the juniors apart from deciding the focus of the programme, but that was all his job called for really.
