Corey Oates

Corey, you can take up the option, but you are not in my plans...that would do it

Exactly. Would be madness on him to take up the option if being told he will rot in Q-Cup.

Smart thing would be to lock into a multi year deal elsewhere before your stock plummets.

Will be interesting to see what happens. Factoring in their stated intent to put Staggs in the #6 jersey, Coates, Farnworth & Isaako (in that order) are probably bigger priority outside backs, and they’ve got a lot of depth behind them including Tesi Niu who I believe they’re very high on potential-wise. Isaako at fullback is a placeholder and if they find a proper #1 they’ll probably still want Jamayne on the wing for the goal kicking (unless they pick up Reynolds). So yeah you could imagine him considering his options if he’s told he faces a battle to get a game in first grade at all.

According to Sydney media Staggs is all but certain for the Eels. They lose him and like Cows with Lolo all of a sudden they are one trick ponies. His a loose cannon but wouldn't there only other decent player aside from Haas, TPJ be off contract soon?

What’s this Staggs > Parra rumour? Can’t find any reporting on that. How could they have the cap space hahaha?

It’s settled then. I’ll march to Red Hill tomorrow and ask for their finest C.Oates. They might give us Xavier Coates by mistake, which would be even better.

I haven't seen the hype around Xavier just yet but I'm sure I will soon if it's all true.

I’ll be surprised if he’s not almost universally regarded the best outside back in the comp pretty soon after Bellyache gets his dirty mitts on him.
