City vs Country

Ooh, City almost got in, Reynolds changed the angle towards Uate's wing, Uate was nowhere to be seen, but just got back in time to push Taufua's legs into touch. Game saving tackle from Uate!

Reynolds has been outstanding, I must say.
 
Cuthbertson offload set off one final charge downfield from City, but they went into touch.

18-12 the final score to Country, Ryan Hoffman got man of the match.
 
I think Uate has played himself back into the NSW side

I don't think Tigers should even select Tedesco next week lol horrible game
 
City definitely deserved the win. A poor performance from Country given the squad they had. All Tom Symonds needed to do was pass! Argh, dissapointing.

Well Merritt certainly didn't do himself any favours and these sort of games are why he is never picked for Origin.

Main thing is there were no injuries, more importantly for Knights players.
 
Country dominated 50 percent of the game & City dominated the other 50 so i don't think City deserved it more.

Every Knight apart from McKinnon was outstanding.
 
Cuthbertson had some classy touches today and although he won't be considered for Origin, I know he wouldn't look out of place if he did get a shot. He has turned into one of my fav players, tbh.
 
Uate should of been MOTM brilliant game Scored a try set 1 up for McManus and saved one in the dying minutes...So happy for the country boys!!!!
@stiggy City were only the better side for 40 minutes mate....country were the best side for the other 40...just had a little too much class in the end
Great signs for NSW heading into Origin..

Agreed, people wonder why Merritt doesn't get selected for Origin, today was a perfect example. It's not because he's a bad player or the selectors are racist, it's because he's simply not up to the required rep standards. There has ALWAYS been a better player infront of him and still now there are plenty ahead of him who are proven big game performers and know how to score tries and opportunities when it counts. It just doesn't cut it finishing off tries when you're in big games, you need more than that and Merritt has nothing more to offer than being a good finisher.

I think all our boys would've got a massive rush from this rep weekend, all our players did well and were in winning sides (minus Cuthbo) hopefully they come back confident and excited to rip in back at the Knights.

I think City deserved it due to their massively understrength side. Country should have demolished them
 
You'd have to say City played better with what they had. Most expected them to lose by plenty, including me.

Hoffman and Reynolds were both excellent.

Country deserved the win, though.
 
On form Uate is booming over Morris for NSW wing spot yes the whole defense thing is obviously a biggie but i just think everyone knows he can bring it in attack and he seems to have gotten better under the high ball and defense in general plus Morris this year just seems out of it, i really think we should try him for at least the first game.

Not a bad side alicia your right with the aku missing out and i think reynolds deserves it but it will be pierce again due to the time they've invested in him unfortunately, the only thing i would disagree with and ill probly cop some backlash for it but i would not have hoffman in there, (or gids based on current form but will be happy to let that slide)
 
Was good to see Jennings make a bust and actually find his support today. First time I've seen him manage it this year! :lol:

Akuila Uate, Adam Reynolds put hands up for Origin

AKUILA Uate put his hand up for a State of Origin recall with a powerful performance for NSW Country in Sunday's 18-12 win over City at Coffs Harbour.

The Newcastle winger was axed for last year's series decider in Brisbane after an indifferent display in game two in Sydney, but produced a performance that will give Blues coach Laurie Daley plenty of thought.
The Fijian flyer scored a try in the first half, finishing off a sweeping move by Country and then produced a brilliant one-handed pass to set up Knights teammate James McManus for the decisive four-pointer.
Daley has already stated Mitchell Pearce will be his halfback for this year's State of Origin series.
But he couldn't have failed to be impressed by City's Adam Reynolds, and also back-rower Ryan Hoffman who was very strong in both defence and attack for Brad Fittler's side in a man of the match performance.


South Sydney playmaker Reynolds once again displayed his magical kicking skills with two 40-20s and scored a second-half try when he regathered his own grubber and touched down under the posts.
Country dominated the opening period as City struggled to get a foothold on the game with Josh McCrone opening the scoring when he strolled to the line untouched after 14 minutes.
Five-eighth James Maloney, who is also in contention for a Blues spot, kicked the first of his three conversions in a competent display.
Uate stretched the lead when he brilliantly finished off a move that saw the ball superbly kept alive by the Country side.
The second half featured a much improved display from Fittler's side with prop Andrew Fifita going over after a great offload from Wade Graham.
Reynolds' try and conversion levelled the scores but McManus sealed the win in the 67th minute with Maloney adding the extras. One downside to the game was the record low crowd for the fixture of 4,645.
