We lost 34-16.
The most interesting thing was that Mata'utia played 5/8, and he played pretty well. He did all the long kicks, which meant nearly all the kicks in the end, and he got some distance on them and mostly found open ground. He also threw some very good long and accurate passes, and the first time he touched the ball he sliced through the defence with a good run, but overall he wasn't very creative and i would have liked to see him run a lot more.
Stig didn't play - Briggs to halfback and Tua to the wing so Pete could move to 5/8.
Our best were McDonnell and Southern, and also Sinbad improves every game and i'd say was ahead of players like Filipo and Mika today.
Simon Allen was able to play 80 minutes at hooker, but he did very little except dummy half, and wasn't fantastic at that. The fact that Ndaira and Rhys Jack carved us up up the middle is probably down to Allen and a few others not manning up in the middle - but 80 minutes at hooker for a guy who isn't a hooker and doesn't look super fit is a top effort.
Simon Williams scored a try and drew the defence to put his winger over untouched (Tua) - the only other try was a barge over effort from Fata after we were camped on their line for a few sets.
Likiliki and Naiqama looked pretty dangerous in the first half, and Balmain spent a lot of time calling out Likiliki's name and moving up on him when he got the ball, so he had them worried, but as usual he died after about 50 minutes and they got about 3 tries down his side, with Kev being not much help. On the other side Williams and Tua were solid in defence and dangerous in attack.
Briggs was clever in attack, but George Ndaira read him like a book and smothered everything he did.
