Bulldogs throw open ANZ gates (Update)
THE Bulldogs have come up with a strategy to boost flagging attendances, throwing the gates open to all Kiwis, Samoans, Tongans and Fijians for their NRL clash with the Warriors.
Ex-pats will need to bring a passport this Saturday night to gain free entry, the idea prompted by discussions between star second rower Sonny Bill Williams and chief executive Todd Greenberg.
The Bulldogs have a strong Polynesian influence in their first grade side with the likes of Williams, Daryl Millard, Tim Winitana and rookie star Arana Taumata.
“Our match against the New Zealand Warriors seems the right time to take this first small step and celebrate the important role played by Pacific Island and Maori players and their families in our club across all levels,” Greenberg said.
Williams has declared himself a definite starter despite being plagued by back pain in Sunday's much-needed win over Brisbane.
