Adam O'Brien replacement?

Foxsports now has a story about the disharmony at the Knights.

Even if true, I find it hard to care.

The best case scenario for a harmonious version of the roster when the clean out started was a 5-8 finish and a loss in the first or second week of the finals.

I’d rather finish 9th-13th this year but take concrete steps towards reshaping the roster
into one which can really compete.

For starters, Leo Thompson has Moses Leota-like potential, but he’ll never unlock it with the work he has to get through just to cover for slow & immobile defenders around him.

O’Sullivan identified Isaiya Katoa as the standout young half in his age group despite others getting more hype, and he’s clearly been proven right.

There’s no one who better understands what you should be looking for. But for horrific injury luck with Flegler and Gilbert, the Dolphins would already be seriously competing for the top four this year.

When we went on the run last AOB deservedly earned himself an extension. But when the club extended him another 3 years I was instantly concerned.

Who were we bidding against other than ourselves, there was no one else looking to snap up AOB as a head coach.

Should have waited to see if the 3 months of good footy was real or a mirage before extending him.

Yep I'm like Frank , on the back of Ponga I thought Obi would get an extension , but I too winced at three years . Thought Parr would have more more nous than that . I hope we have a set termination fee ?

Yeah two years would have seemed a more reasonable option, maybe with an extra year that could have been automatically unlocked with a top four finish this year?

How do you rate Alan Bell, he basically drew up the blueprint for how every team attacks these days?
Honestly I don't know much about him apart from his appearance on Barry Toohey's podcast a year or two back.

Fair, maybe OB wont have us contenders next season etc. My question was whether we are getting closer or moving further away due to OB's coaching? I cant see how we are getting closer just based on making the 8 as the yardstick.

And who is saying a coach that yells at people is the answer? You don't think OB yells at people? Bellamy etc? Of course they so.

What has been called for is a coach that will set higher standards than OB allows.
And can develop and get the best out of the players.

What’s funny about that article is that they’re saying there’s 10 people in the leadership group lol

Half their problem is the lack of leadership in the playing group, why the hell are there 10 players in it and who are they?

If everybody is a leader, than nobody is a leader.

The Knights sudden performance drop occurred at the same time Fox says players were told they could look elsewhere and it is the same thing we heard from other sources.
Yeah now it’s been explained like that I’m surprised none of us really made the link. Never going to be a good atmosphere if some senior members of the team are told to look elsewhere, and it says they’re annoyed at AOB for not backing the players more, which wouldn’t help either.

Right thing to do though.

Well they said three have just been added, because three that were already there have been told they’re not wanted. So originally seven. And I have a feeling it would have originally been less, but then Ponga gets injured, Brailey goes to the bench, so they get two more in … it could have been four at the start of the season, but then things happen!

Obviously ten is ridiculous though lol.

Another master stroke by Obi.
Have more than half the 18 man side in the leadership group.
More Chiefs than Indians as they say.

I remember everyone was bagging out the Tigers for having a 5 man leadership group.

He was the guy who came up with the block play or the sweep play. We played a very exaggerated version of it in 92 when we first made the finals. Halves Rodwell and Hagan would go to the line with a forward to play short to and the other sweeping around the back, but metres behind the play. It was designed to give the second ball player time to play. It worked well for that season but fell apart a bit as teams worked it out. Soon the Johns brothers were our halves and played a flatter style of it, and teams have worked on it to the point where it is played like it is today.

Yeah I'm struggling to come up with more than four leaders in our motley crew , the mind boggles!

To be fair we are only 3, it's a pretty congested ladder. I'll enjoy watching the knives come out, but I'll back Obi to get us up again next year when we don't have a nightmare run of injuries.
Bit of a myth about the nightmare run of injuries. Only genuine first-graders to miss significant football are Ponga and Gamble. Ponga is a very significant loss but we've actually won more games and lost less games with him out of the side this year.

This has probably been one of our best seasons ever for injuries. I think it was 05 or 06, sitting down to watch a Newcastle game on Win and the announcer mentioned we had 11 guys currently out of the squad through injury. I didn’t even recognise most of them.
