Adam O'Brien replacement?

I can say one thing about AOB from conversations with players. A’lot of the guys are intimidated by him he isn’t pleasant and comfortable to be around at times feeling like you’re on edge when you are around him.
For a guy who came here with a lot of hype and from 2 of the most successful systems, he hasn't done anything to justify the hype or bring the high standards from those clubs here.

I'm no AOB fan but just reading what you wrote made me have a think and wonder is the coach the problem or the players we have here. I mean we have had this problem for the past 20 years with attitude.

I'd be keen for Madge. And Morris second.

Madge is a coach that pushes for attitude and performance, holds players to a standard. A hard noser.

Morris might come in and set good environment but the players seem to be happy to just be there. We need a coach that drives standards hard in this club

Yep , but it's a fine balance . Madge has been sacked a couple of times

Sure, I'd rather have him come in with a mandate to weed out the rabble, put players on notice they either perform or they can go.

A fire and brimstone approach is what is needed and the club need to support this happening.

Attitude is appauling in the club, standards are allowed to be low, and infact rewarded.

I'd rather blow the place up and start again and if that is Madge I'm all for it.

My fear is Morris comes in, can't change the place either and e go through more of the same.

There is something very wrong at the Knights. Players come here with promise and become mediocre, juniors come through and can't stick at NRL level, coaches come in and the stink continues.

I believe this is because the Knights are a club away from expectation, we have a fanbase that turns up and supports no matter what, you don't see signs held up at our games ridiculing anything, or calling for coach sacking, we just keep turning up. Secondly, we are insulated from the heavy scrutiny that other clubs get being away from Sydney. Both of those add together to make just turnig up ok.

Ther is no hunger here, no drive, no pasion. I keep hearing complete and utter bullsh!t from OB about how much the players want to perform and play for the home crowd. It's rubbish, they don't care about the home crowd or they would show it in their performances. They don't.

There is also the BS about how the players are ready to perform, had a good week etc, just want to go out and show what they can do etc etc from OB. doesn't happen.

This clubs needs a big change moving forward, a gould style going through from top to bottom.

I know the sting had well and truly gone out of the game by then but we’re in big trouble if that last try doesn’t instigate any change in how this team plays.

Last year the game plan was based heavily around getting the ball wide via quick hands to outside backs who can win 1-on-1 contests. That was the strength of the roster and, yes, Dom Young was vital to that. Then when Kalyn came back in it sent things into overdrive as he better than any other player turns every 4 on 4 or 3 on 3 out wide into an overlap.

The theoretical strengths of the roster are further in now. Especially with a gimped KP, we played with one unusually fast and agile back rower in Lucas and one unusually big and strong one in KPP, and Friz is a bit of a mixture of both. Trying to generate 1-on-1’s with defenders you have mismatches against (Kai on an opposing half and Lucas on the space between his opposing back rower and the middle next to him) should now be key to the game plan. How do you create these mismatches? Well, if you watch Melbourne (who want to get Blore and Eli Katoa into good matchups), you’ll know that middles who run hard and look to generate support play, with spine players who buzz around in support and quickly look to either cut back inside or spin the ball to the edge, are one way to do that…

It would require our biggest, heaviest props to run with intent and look to offload, which seems like a flawed plan, but they can’t do whatever the **** they’re being asked to do at the moment…

I'm hearing you

If Brad Arthur does indeed get the sack so the Eels can chase Wayne Bennett, he would probably be my first call actually. I know the milk has gone sour now but he had a successful tenure overall and his Eels sides have always played with a power game with a lot of second phase play (I can’t remember the last time the Eels didn’t lead the comp in offloads), which suits what the strengths of our roster should in theory be.

I personally would love to see Steve McNamara be head coach for Newcastle should AOB resign. He’s been mentioned before but he is eerily similar to Mal Reilly as he has won a challenge cup and taken Catalans Dragons to two Super League Grand Finals and is looking to coach in the NRL in the future.

Scratch that, he signed a new deal with Catalans so that rules him out.

If that Is the case Junior, you would think guys would bust *** just to not have him come down on them?

Or Is It more of don't deviate from what I am telling you dammit type Intimidation/unpleasant?
