You are right let's see how long they can keep it up for..... But this is a team that has had a single pre-season and they already look way way way better than we do in both defense and attack.

The coach is all I will say
Don't think anyone would expect them to keep it up for the season . Think with a fair run with injuries they will be hard to beat at home. They have had 1 preseason 😳. You can bet everyone that was there today will be back next home game , plus some

Knights into spoon favouritism, which is questionable given how bad the tigers were.

If they lose next week AOB is going to be under a ton of pressure.

To me our season is on the edge after 1 game. I’m not looking forward to watching anymore of our games while AOB is in charge.

I hope AOB is sacked soon and is replaced by someone capable. Then hopefully we can start to get somewhere.

our draw to start the season is easy so we must win those games

I'm no fan of AOB, but his coaching isn't our only problem (depth and effort are two other big concerns for mine). It'd be great to get someone more competent, but it would be the start of a whole new roster rebuild most likely. That will take several years. So, I agree that someone capable will be better as coach, however it won't translate to immediate success.

Since when is a teams effort not blamed on the coach?

Is it not the job of the coach to get the best of of the team given the playing talent available?

If AOB getting best effort from this squad?

The problem is not just AOB, but he is a big part of the problem.

Yeah the problem is definitely if we lose these easier games then it’s difficult to see us rebounding and winning harder ones as the season progresses. A side like the Roosters can do that, they can afford a slow start.

So the soft start to the season is really a negative thing for AOB, particularly with a new spine to get used to each other.

I think if we are floundering after six weeks then a new couch could change things quite quickly though, because our roster (while lacking depth) isn’t terrible. Letting the leash off in attack and letting the players take charge a bit more might be one positive change. Possibly a more motivational and man manger coach might get an improvement too, I get the feeling AOB is very technical and a bit distant. Comments in that Hoy/Clifford interview seemed to suggest that, too.

I'd be going for a coach that gets players playing for them, as you said a motivational coach, then in attack just let them play footy and enjoy themselves. Get them standing deeper in attack and shifting the ball with a moving backline putting pressure on the D to make decisions. Decoy runners and players in motion. Otherwise leave it up to the creatives in the team to make plays and attack where they choose.

Robinson strikes me as that sort of coach, Bellamy likewise, Cleary by the way his team seem to have fun out there is likely the same, Bennett is that sort of coach not that he could work the magic here.

The emphasis should be around making footy fun and utilising the natural talent of our halves and letting setting them free.

How much do you think OB is a structures coach trying to tell the team when here on the field do this!
