Adam O'Brien replacement?

If you’ve watched Manly in recent seasons you know Hasler really really understands how to attack in the modern game.

Just watching the presser and OB makes a comment that the attack was a bit rusty, and needs time to gel, and will look vastly different in 4 weeks, 8 weeks and 12 weeks.

Lets put a pin in that and see how much of that is the case, and that is if OB is still in the job at any of those milestones.

Well in all honesty they do have to gel, every footy expert will tell you that. But good teams tend to transition better than us.

Was chatting to a friend about potential new coaches, he reckons Dessie is very unlikely & would only consider Sydney jobs. Very set in his ways & didn’t even move away from the Northern Beaches to coach the Bulldogs (and used to ***** about the commute constantly).

I’ve thought about it more and I think I lean Flanagan. Yes, his Sharks teams were never great in attack. I remember they had a recurring issue of playing too laterally in good ball. They were certainly better than O’Brien’s Knights though and he wasn’t furnished with amazing attacking talent - the few attacking stars he did have got their share of highlights and usually had really good seasons.

But at the end of the day it’s just impossible for us to be as slick as Melbourne, the Roosters, Souths. We don’t have the cattle for it. Flanagan arrived at the club with the biggest case of loser mindset in NRL history, had a roster which was an odd combination of old declining guys, very inexperienced guys, and stupid assholes, and turned them into uncompromising, in-your-face winners. He got the most selfish player in NRL history Paul Gallen to play winning ball.

I’d always take an 8-6 win over a 30-38 loss. I don’t think the 2022 Penrith premiership meant more than the one the year before because they scored more points.

Finally someone agrees and sees what I see in Flanagan
