Just watching Panthers last night and the consistent success they have had makes me wonder why we haven’t had similar success?
Isn’t our nursery as good as there’s? Why we aren’t that side that has most of its local juniors come through into the FG squad is so disappointing.
Who has AOB brought through in the 4 years? Phoenix Crossland, Bradman Best. Who else?
That’s my argument for Morris. We need a coach and system that cultivates our juniors. All these ex Newcastle players playing great for other clubs ****s me.
There’s a failure to recognise talent and there’s a failure to keep them. Dylan Lucus not being picked this week is just dumb. Turning players into utilities is dumb.
Morris come through our junior system. He brought a bunch of the current Cronulla squad through. He’s the best option available. Get it done Wests.

The inability of the club/coach to recognize and foster talented juniors is just another thing we can't get right. I would give Brian McDermott the rest of the year and hope he can do a Mal Reilly. As much as I admire John Morris I don't think he's the guy for the job, we can't afford to hire another coach who is feeling his way. I wonder if Kristian Woolf would consider coming back here?

There is the inability of the coaching staff to progress the juniors through but they haven’t been working with the greatest of junior talents in recent years. Sure they might win a junior grade or two but there isn’t many running around at any club in FG right now where you’d wish they were still at the club. Need to fix that massive underlying issue long before these juniors get remotely close to the FG age/level.

Really depends on your definition of "really good", we've had 3 Origin players this year in Haas, Young and TPJ. Would find it very hard to argue against the first two falling within that definition.
As far as talent goes there would be short odds of Pezet joining that "really good" group at some point in his career, as the 19s Origin demonstrated he's among the best in that age group.
Agree that the Central Coast and probably Mid North Coast has dominated our junior rep sides for a while but there's been a bit of a swing back to Newcastle in the last couple of seasons.

I’ll pay Hudson Young, but I don’t think you can call Payne a local junior given how young he was when he moved away. TPJ is a coach killer. And yeah Pezet is a Coastie AFAIK.
I don't really know, but I understood he came here with a no nonsense tough attitude, having been a Royal Marine. I think we need a tough coach who can lay the law down and make some tough decisions.

Knights are no shinny new 747 for a newby to pilot, they need an experienced guy with the strength of character to push through the politics and negotiate for what he wants, no second guessing.
Royal Marine as well? I'm sold, take my money. That's the man right there. No one , and I mean no one can truly understand the meaning of TEAM, and how to get the best out of them, more than a military man. Coaches learning in a cozy little class room simply will never understand.

As is often the case in these discussions drawing the line that differentiates between districts can occur at a few different points.
In the case of Pezet though I think we can be fairly confident in classifying him as Lake Mac given I believe he played the majority of his junior footy there and indeed lists Valo as his junior club.
