I think it would be a disaster. They worked out how to beat that style of play in Q Cup. I don't think NRL teams would have any trouble dismantling that. Maybe I'm wrong... But I don't want the Knights to be the guinea pigs. I'm barely coping with 4 years of AOB.

If an NRL team ever gets them on as coaches it is absolutely the nuclear option - we try this or the club leaves the NRL.

They couldn’t even keep their Queensland Cup jobs, I think one is a real estate agent now? It would work about as well as Chris Anderson’s one marker brainwave.

I think Morris deserves another shot, but I wouldn’t know what to think cos I’m not sure if the issues at the club are down to the coach or if the place is just inherently a basket case.

It's crazy, that with certain players not performing well, Losing Brailey for yr and Ponga for 1/4 season, it's (so far) mostly come down to poor goal kicking that has stopped team from being higher up the table. and therefore this conversation not really happening and most Knights fans praising the teams grit in scramble D and better ball play winning them games.

The last two games (after a brilliant showing against Brisbane) have been the death nell though. Two games that were very win-able and should have been won, were met with instead, flatness and signs of little desire. This season really reminds me of the Raiders a few yrs ago where they lost 3/4 of there games by 8 or less, finished near last. Then the next yr was maybe top 4. It's why I still think club needs stability as I don't see this club and players, suddenly playing like a top 4 team with a new coach. We've had many new coaches and the result has been close to the same for some time.
 
I think I read that Morris was doing fitness sessions with the team at Cronulla and was not coming last.
That would be a kick in the pants for some players if the coach was showing them up in training sessions.

This is absolutely it, if semi-pro teams can work it out and shut it down, how long would it take professional teams?

I’ll also add that their great brainwaves were stuff like, continuous ball movement & changes of angle will put fatigue into the defensive line, the benefits of short restarts (getting the ball back) outweigh the negatives and risks, having more possession is the stat which correlates highest with scoring more points than the other team… if you’re watching Penrith v Melbourne tonight, you can see that all these things are cornerstone ideas in the modern game, it’s not the conservative, grinding game it was back when the Walkers were coaching the Jets.

So… what would they bring which is new and revolutionary now? There was a lot about what they did which was weird and bad too. Biggest things were weird training/warm ups, and little emphasis on ruck control and borderline just letting teams roll downfield quickly. They got away with a lot of their lax defensive **** because QCup sides weren’t slick enough to punish them, but you send a team out against an NRL team with no real intent to prevent quick rucks, and they’d get a score put on them IMO.

God help us. I can only hope that Toohey actually has no scoops anymore and is just repeating what he remembered hearing on NRL 360 the other night.

Well hold on now. You asked if I would be “excited” by Morris being appointed. This is the only club where the most successful club footy coach of all time has had a losing record. I don’t know what would happen if he came in, but I think it would be foolish to anticipate that a new head coach will be some sort of saviour.

That’s not the same thing as being “sure” or “unsure” he’s the best option. A few months ago a huge % of footy fans would tell you they were sure Trent Robinson was the best coach in the NRL. I don’t think they’d be so sure about that now.

Sorry. I could have worded that better. I meant for Tew to be The Knights Football Club CEO, Gardener's current role. Tew would be appointed by the Wests Group Board and could only be removed by the board. Parr as Director of Football and Coach X could concentrate on the football side of things and Tew would be in charge over-all and look after all the admin and stuff. Gardener could go back to worrying about Poker Machines and Happy Hour or whatever the fxxx he does. Just a thought...

Definitely as interim. The only concern I have is that unknown element in the NRL. I guess Hollbrook is similar with the success he had in SL

We had that absolute shocker against Parramatta. Played poorly against the sharks. Would say didn’t play well against Dolphins. And we beat a Manly side missing there best 3 players.

I thought similar but now putting the season into perspective weather we won those tight games we would still be fringe 8.
