The vast vast majority of NRL players got to the league because they worked really hard. It's an incredibly competitive field. There's a handful of athletic freaks that could coast and still have decent careers, but they're an exception.

And the vast vast majority of NRL players are aware that their playing career is finite. They are still financially motivated to perform well to get an upgraded contract, or be retained when their contract is over.

'They just don't care' is a criticism borne out of ignorance and 'copium' - There's definitely an easy fix to our structural issues, just get the players to try harder...

A bit dramatic to interpret 'they just don't care' as though the player literally doesn't care at all.

Effort, commitment, desire, discipline, these things aren't constants. And it is absolutely true that these things fluctuate in a first grade footballer. So to say that Dan Saifiti doesn't care in an absolute sense is probably a silly statement. But to accuse his performance of suffering from a lack of effort, commitment and desire may be a some what reasonable thing to say given the objective collapse in his output when measured statistically. We'd need to concoct excuses for him to explain it any other way tbh.

And strange that his brother would be seemingly inflicted with the same lackluster form even in the absence of injury.

You try and explain the performances they put it, its a different game now.

I honestly believe they don't care, a win changes nothing with them at all as there is no consequences to losing...

I'm not the only one with this opinion, and nor am i saying just the newcastle knights...

Been watching this sport before the Knights were in the comp, I think I am allowed to have my opinion on what passion and pride looks like...

Hardly see disappointment on their faces including our captain after a loss...

Not saying every single player, just a handful

I agree its supposed to be about how they play on the field not the way they play off the field .

I was agreeing with you for the most part

I've been saying this since round 3 or so, 'the Safs are throwing it in'.

There is something causing it imo, my best guess is that it has to do with the captaincy. Anyone who thinks DSaf was OK to lose that is kidding themselves. His twin brother seems affected by whatever it is, too.
 
Surely the coaching staff see the difference between last season and this in particular the Saf boys and have had discussions with them to sort out any problems or reasons for what is a lack of performance.
 
Seems legit to me, Club knew it was in trouble playing roster and injuries would affect them...

That has happened and they to rectify that before next year.

I don't want to think that way, as a loss hurts me more than it does them from what I can see...

I just wish more effort was involved in the defense side

Individually we have some brilliant players. But we're a lost cause. Zero footy IQ, no legitimate structure. We seem to pretend to have structure where we impersonate the shape of a real football team but it has no substance, no one is counting numbers, drawing defenders, running lines. It's just pathetic.

AOB has to go. There's no other solution to this. We're going in circles.

Biggest issue is we dont have anyone leading us around the park look at the difference renoylds has made to the broncos .
