2026 Recruitment And Retention

call me damn crazy but i still think our best side with the highest ceiling is with sharpe and brown in the halves, sandon at 14 playing big minutes at 9 and crossy starting 9 and moving to 13 for sandon… let’s bring that 2023 backline back to its peak!!
The 2023 backline had Jackson Hastings and Tyson Gamble in the halves, all that space out wide wasn't being created by those two burning blokes for pace.

Just noticing that Josh Schuster has been released from Souths and was on "mental health leave" since June.

I watched a reserve grade game earlier this year and he tore us to pieces, and looked like he was barely interested while doing it.

I'd take a punt on him for a very reasonable price. He's 24 years old and a genuine star if someone works out what his issues are.

Schuster has had physiological issues that have prevented him from playing at 2 clubs now. He definitely has the talent but because he has not been able to resolve his issues at 2 clubs, I think it would be best not to sign him.

A few years ago we signed Sam Mataora from the Raiders in a similar situation and in the end he was unable to play due to his physiological issues.

It's right there in your post mate. Mental health issues. Very understandable ones. He held his best mate's hand, a guy he went to kindergarten with, and watched him die, in what was a tragic (but likely totally avoidable - a few staff members at Manly should never work in footy again) training accident. I know he only played the one first grade game before the accident, but in that debut he looked fitter & more engaged than he's ever looked since. Then this season all that stuff got dragged up again because he gave evidence at the coronial inquest into his mate's death a short while before he went on the mental health leave.

Definitely think he's a player people could stand to talk a bit more charitably about. I think it's very likely that he thinks about what happened to his mate every day and going into an NRL training facility probably just reminds him of it. It'd be a really, really hard thing to move on from, I'm sure it would **** me up too, and I'm just not sure the NRL environment is the right place to do that.

I'm not sure what Marzhew is on. Interestingly, Holbrook was the coach when we did the swap. I wonder if he thought I should have kept him, maybe after 23. Marz is great on kick returns and early set hitups. He’s also a pretty good finisher. I just don’t think he got a lot of opportunities this year, not his fault. So will see what happens.
The Titans had some guy waiting in the wings, can't remember his name off the top of my head but felt Marzhew was expendable when we needed the depth. Similar to the way Randall was given to the Titans to let him have a crack at first grade. Kinda worked out for both teams. Both are contributing and have more then filled the void.

Also was playing injured.

funny he labels himself a 'journo' but only re-posts other sources. skip
That’s exactly what most journalism has been for years. Copy and paste press releases, AAP stories or regurgitate others stories. Or simply make stuff up, doesn’t matter if you’re wrong as long as you’re first

AI will most likely replace a lot of them soon anyway

So many places like that I bag out zero tackle but atleast they write their own articles.

Clarkeys the worst rehasher, often rehash's things 3 days old.

I still laugh at Clarkey's video about the Dylan Brown deal where he said "Even if signing Dylan Brown wins the Knights a premiership, it's not worth it!" Okay then what's the point of any signing then? Is the goal of rugby league to have every player earning the exact right salary?

I'd let Dylan Brown **** in my mouth if it meant we won a comp lmao.

I respect the dedication

was obviously talking about the back 5 when I said backline. Look how we went with Hastings and Gamble in the halves, imagine how it could be if we get it right with an international half and an up and coming star in Sharpe. A lot more strike and potential in next years 1-7 imo

It really speaks volumes of a lot of rugby league fans that Clarkey has so many followers.

I even saw same people praising Moley the other day on Twitter. I was under the assumption everyone thought he was a complete hack

Anyone else trying to figure out what is under the Asterisks?

No, just me?

Moleys latest piece of quality journalism. Posted this photo of Knights in Bali.

Too bad it’s from 3 years ago, half of them aren’t Knights anymore and KP was at training this morning

Surely has to be jizz.

I know we’ve signed a few halves but I still keep kinda wishing pezet ends up here. Would be nice to have someone with an elite long kicking game.

6. Brown
7. Pezet
9. Smith

With sharpe on the wing.
