Test averages declining worldwide has coincided with pressure on every nation to produce wickets that get a result or risk having their test status (as a ground) revoked. everyone who likes to talk about the golden era of Australian batsman, guys averaging 50+ in state and never getting a look in etc need to go and have a look at the surfaces they were playing on, in Australia in particular they were absolute highways which then would break up and turn in the 3rd and 4th innings. Its apples and oranges.
Its all the wickets out here and not the cricketers.
just look at india currently playing in sri lanka, they declared at a touch over 500 on a dead track (in comparison to our wickets) yet they come out here and can barely crack 200.

When ollie robinson gets 16 wickets an average of 7 across two tests this is probably below average for pakistans standards .

I think most of the crowd is under cover in the stands but the uncovered stands are virtually empty.

Understand Maddison recall, always thought he was a possible regular in top 11.
Haven’t been following to closely but what about Renshaw thought he would have been in top 3 Head at 5.
Have to start keeping up to date, NRL/G/F got in way, been a bit lost last 2 weeks or so.

Yes thought he was headed to big time, been out for a while.
Just a thought but has Shield cricket died or has everything else surpassed it, don’t see much reports, little in TV News reports, was a time when shield was shown even if just last session 4-6pm, lack of this means you don’t develop fan interest.
Just a thought, went to SCG, many years ago, probably 55yrs, yes I’m old, saw Alan Border play his first game for NSW, from memory made 48, back to Penshurst pub and told mates that I just saw a bloke who will play for Aust, didn’t realise then that I saw history starting.

The R1 fixtures have been announced yet. The Vegas games are on the 27th Feb so assuming the next games will be between the 4th-7th March.

Can’t wait for the fixtures to come out. With my daughter being over there we will be coming out to see her and I’ve told my wife a special visit will be being made to Newcastle for a game!

My point was if the Australian cricket team keeps playing badly this summer, the start of the NRL competition will not be soon enough for a few of us on here!
