A quick look across the board and I’d say we will be in big trouble sooner rather than later. Currently we must be the oldest team in history collectively and they can’t play on forever.

Test averages declining worldwide has coincided with pressure on every nation to produce wickets that get a result or risk having their test status (as a ground) revoked. everyone who likes to talk about the golden era of Australian batsman, guys averaging 50+ in state and never getting a look in etc need to go and have a look at the surfaces they were playing on, in Australia in particular they were absolute highways which then would break up and turn in the 3rd and 4th innings. Its apples and oranges.
Its all the wickets out here and not the cricketers.
just look at india currently playing in sri lanka, they declared at a touch over 500 on a dead track (in comparison to our wickets) yet they come out here and can barely crack 200.
