2025 Recruitment And Retention

Yeh right😂 neither can get game time in teams below us. It’s a recruitment master stroke. Bring in whoever you like, nobody comes to the knights and gets better. It’s not a current player problem. Look at this years recruitment, Cartwright, Jenkins, Cogger, all came with hope and had what we were hoping them to bring coached out of them. For the record, if Ricky had the knights roster, they would be sitting a lot higher than we are👍
Who the **** even are you?

I've always thought that players other teams are willing to lose are not worth buying.
Schiller seems a bit different. The raiders wanted to keep him and it sounds like he has had close ties with his relatives in Lake Macquarie and is choosing Newcastle for lifestyle reasons.
Matt Arthur might also be different - he is being squeezed out of Parra for club politics reasons.

They’re clearing the decks to increase depth. Peter O’ Sullivan hasn’t been brought in to add to our squad his been brought into the club to rebuild it.

If we are to take that next step as a club we need to reset our squad. I don’t believe it’s a cap issue at all I think it’s the Club trying to move blokes on to get better players in.

Fritz won’t or gags won’t be cut people. No way would you move friz on
I'm sure if he wants it , Friz will end up in an off field position with the club when he finishes up

Side note Hohepa Puru has replaced Trey Mooney as the Raiders forward I would like to nab, now Mooney has extended with them.

Old mate The Mole’s post is gone, but IMO the thing you have to give the club credit for under the AOB regime is turning unwanted cast offs into capable first graders. Comparing us to the other teams who’ve done well at that, the issue is that they’ve been added to a roster which doesn’t have Munster and Hughes or Luai and Cleary in the halves.

Plenty of questions about AOB’s tactics and ability to get the best out of the team as a whole, and about the performances of certain guys who were fixtures in the club culture before he arrived, but the 17 tomorrow will feature 4 guys who were fringe/unwanted guys at their previous clubs (including one who couldn’t get consistent game time with one of the worst Super League teams and has come along massively in one season with us) and 8 local juniors. Take that for data.

He’d fit in either centre or wing. The guy scores tries, raiders could have used him plenty this year. I was watching the guy before he signed with us for the simple fact that Brett Mullins was my favourite player for many years and saw similarities.
i know where hed play, but would you drop for him to replace?

Schiller is a talent. Mullins is a good comp. Tall, good pace and powerful. He’s definitely the template for a modern outside back, I wouldn’t say he has Hammer-like speed but he’ll probably be a guy who gives you 160-180 running metres a week and provides some threat in attack, Kiraz is another guy I’d compare him to (probably quicker, maybe not quite the same bony awkward build which makes Kiraz a top 3 yardage winger in the comp but he’s definitely at least very good at that stuff). His defence is the big knock on him but he makes good contact and all that, his issue is positioning, so playing him next to Gagai is probably a good idea: https://www.raiders.com.au/news/2024/02/18/james-schiller-stakes-a-claim-at-centre/

I suspect Votano will enter first grade eventually as a centre/wing too and it’ll be a battle between them for that right centre spot.

Story on Zero tackle webpage this morning linking the Knights and Matt Lodge. A few years ago it was a definite no way after his off field antics I don't think I've changed my mind regarding his football ability. I don't think he offers much.

Peter o’ Sullivan is his father in law.

As a pure depth signing and a bit of experience, behind our younger props Sua, Cant and Jones. I don't mind it.

But as a week in, week out bench player, please no.
