I put the question marks there cos I think we are going to have four of five new faces in that 17 next year. Sully is only getting started over the next 18 months or so. With Perth and PNG coming in very soon he will be busier than ever.

We should be re signing Elliot I think. Brings leadership and is a very solid bench middle.

Elliott to lock, Frizell to prop
Only way we re-sign Elliot is if he takes about 200k off his current contract. I’m not sure he will plus Milly is predominantly in Sydney. Though not sure on her situation when it comes to the newborn, as in where they’d prefer to be closer to family etc.

I want him to stay too. Great for team leadership and comradely.

If he and KPP stay for reduced contracts that a big tick in the clubs management skills. Though, I feel that is a pipe dream.

I think Elliott makes $450K (I believe there was some consternation about this over the off season he arrived, he signed with during 2022… but then based on his form at Canberra that year, it became pretty clear he could have gotten more & he tried to negotiate an upgrade with us. Hasn’t shown in his performances though). So $250K would be a pretty huge discount off that and he’d get more than that literally anywhere.

I reckon the hold up is more like, this next deal may be his last for decent money, and he’s holding out to see if he can get high 500’s to 600+ elsewhere. Cheese just got $600K from Souths and that’s after his rep as a player has taken a huge hit. Meanwhile I’d imagine the Knights want Elliott to stay but the offer starts with a 4. A bit of an impasse there.

May be what happens. If the money just isn’t there for the right starter you could maybe pick up Josh Kerr on a reasonable contract, yeah he only plays 30 minutes but he’s very impactful & probably exactly what we’d want to rotate with J Saf.

There's a fella that we offered 1.3 after Pezet to fill that recruitment slot.

I get but we are losing a bucket load of talent next year, yeah Brown is taking a huge chunk but we still have 30 spots to fill and blokes like Croker and Jones being on pie and chips contracts would help pay for other positions.

- The whole Croker had a big ESL contract offer was just BS for mine, I am sure he had interest but clubs wouldn't be banging down the door for him even over there.

Ryan Matterson on the outer at parra. Always rated him but seems to be on the decline. Could he make for a good prop? Certainly has the size and could do worse?

He'd be a poor mans version of Newie's Tariq and Korbin Sims.

Looked tough and they played like Blanche.

And Ryan is a bigger cat than them two.

The Australian reporting that negotiations to bring Dom back have hit a road block over how much each side is willing to pay.

Maybe all the press crowing about the Roosters paying half his salary was… bad?

That report never made any sense. Even if you could negotiate them close to that number eventually why would it immediately come out that the Roosters are willing to cover more than half of his contract? Given Dean Ritchie seemed to be getting all his info from the Knights camp I’d say that was the figure O’Sullivan is hoping for rather than what the Roosters have offered.
