2025-2026 Summer of Cricket

I dont think they have won a match here since the 10/11 series when they won 3-1 Funnily enough there hasnt been as much uncertainty around the make up of an australian side since that series.

The Ashes series results in Australia since 2000 are:

2002/03 Australia 4/1
2006/07 Australia 5/0
2010/11 England 3/1
2013/14 Australia 5/0
2017/18 Australia 4/0
2021/22 Australia 4/0

Since 2000 Australia have won 25 tests here and have lost 4.

for the first time in a long time they have 2 guys who will bowl 145+ and they really seem to be hinging their success on those guys being effective, mind you both guys cant stay fit long enough to have real impact, throw in the fact Australian curators have gone away from preparing rock hard bouncy batting decks the last few summers. I honestly dont see either woods or archer causing our top order to many issues, maybe travis head will have a tough time, with the short stuff but If they come here and fall into the trap of banging it in short of a length we will eat it up.
If the wickets are going to play like last summer i think chris woakes will be their danger man (im assuming his in the squad) and i cant see them picking him first up.

Woakes was not selected, his record here is poor.

Weatherald did himself no favours with a 2nd ball duck today with only 2 overs left in the day. Its a 2 horse race between him and renshaw it looks like for the opening spot, providing Cam green is cleared to bowl and take the number 6 allrounder spot. The one thing in weatheralds favour is renshaw may be favoured as a concussion sub as he has experience batting 1-6
It will either be

Usman
Weatherald/renshaw
Marnus
Smith
Head
Green
Carey
Starc
Lyon
Boland
Hazelwood

Or
Usman
Marnus
Green
Smith
Head
Webster
Carey
Starc
Lyon
Boland
Hazelwood.

Il be very suprised to see anything other than these 2 lineups.

Green didn’t bowl in the first innings of the game he is playing in today. Webster bowled 12 overs and took a wicket today.

Weatherald was dismissed by an excellent delivery.
