2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread

Yeah I don’t love it. Elliott definitely a “similar, but worse” sort of thing. Depends on the salary I guess, could be one of those things where it’s 75% the player for 60% the price.

It’s a lot of roster moves I’m not that keen on unless there’s a plan to make a big big splash in November.

Rumour today that the Knights are after the package deal of Adam Elliott (Mitch Barnett replacement) and Millie Boyle.
Where'd ya hear that? Would be awesome pickups for the right price... Boyle is nearly worth more than Elliott shes that good haha

Caryannis and Brent Read in the Murdoch rags. They want to go to the same club (they’re dating in case anyone didn’t know hahaha).

Adding Millie AND Southwell to the NRLW side will make us pretty formidable though.

I’ve seen Kurt Falls play. He’s older than Cleary mate and there’s a reason they signed Sean O’Sullivan for halves backup. Don’t rate him.

If you’re looking for the best performing halfback in NSW Cup this year, it’s likely actually Dean “Footy Dean” Hawkins at Souths.

Or Kyle Flanagan I guess lol.

Seen Hawkins play before against the Storm and I wasn't sold on him. More of a reserve grade half than NRL level. But sounds like he's going ok this year for Souths at reggies.

Are there any experieced or exiled half's in the super league that would like a return to nrl, in the image of hastings. Doesnt even need to be as good tbh just a better version of clune. Someone who will just take ownership of directing the team around the park. Pre sure i heard of a guy named mitchell p something

but seriously there's a few names in there I'd be chasing to come over immediately if possible

mitch moses free to negotiate come november, surely we will have a crack. managed by issac moses (his company these days). secure him for 2024 and push for a release in 2023.

The “new rules” are kind of a bit dead a bit now though aren’t they? Jason Taumalolo is back to looking like a waaaaaaay more valuable player than someone like Victor Radley. That Cronulla pack full of fat ****ers who’d fatigue out of games last year looks pretty good now. Only Penrith really buck the trend but I reckon guys like Fisher Harris and Leota can bench double their body weight, so strong in defensive contact, and they always get a ****load of yardage from their athletic outside backs. But yeah big forwards are kind of back “in” again.

Unfortunately the Saifitis are messing us about by playing bad (though the atrocious dummy half service has to take a fair bit of blame).

I never wrote him off but I don’t think there’s any doubt that being the all time great wrecking ball is a better trait now that teams are a bit more scared of giving away penalties in yardage and they’re not doing so many 6 agains.
