2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread

I'd rather we spend money on paying the transfer for the English boys than buy the fairly ordinary options we are talking about.
there are plenty of people here that don't think Hastings is an ordinary option, and I for one believe he will only add to our squad. Why spend money on transfer fees for blokes we don't even know are ready for NRL over getting an already established half

I'd be absolutely wrapped if we get Hastings. I actually prefer him over Brooks. That article says he 26. He has heaps of experience. You can't tell me he didn't improve the Tigers drastically when he played. They were a different side and actually looked half decent.

He is the perfect player for us. Experience, skill, organizing, hard nosed, and most of all seems like a leader. And a talker. Well he's English so I'm sure he is a talker.

Surely if he is not being offered an extension, and they sign Bateman. 🤞

I've mentioned before, I think a fully fit Clune is a confident player, that relies on speed also. But, this whole talk of Hastings, I'm liking, and yes I prefer him over Brooks. The Tigers were a much better team when Hastings was playing. And have Clune as our backup.

The thing that fully frustrates me is you have the tigers (wooden spoon) who have signed a bunch of great players. Why aren't we chasing a player like Bateman!? We are scratching around, talk of losing not one but two forwards! It's like the Tigers have all the bargaining power, and a bottomless pit in their salary cap.

But, if we lose Klem, or Fitz, in return for hastings then I'm fine with that. Fingers crossed they sign Bateman, then we could be in a better position to gain Hastings and I guess we will lose Klem I'd say.

Read in a couple of places we got offered Bateman!

If, and I mean IF we get Hastings I think 2 year contract, 2023 & 2024, see how he works out and time for Pryce to get here and develop, might take all of 2024 then we can look at extending Hastings or not

Pryce is talented but was in and out of a middling Huddersfield side all year, Hastings won the Man of Steel, maybe things are different in a few years time but Pryce is definitely the more “ordinary” option right now.
We aren't within a million miles of putting together the squad we need to have a crack at the 2023 title.
I'd rather find a coach who can improve young players and get all the young, talented kids we can put together for 2023 and figure out who we can spend serious cash on to give us a chance in 2024.
We just seem to be putting together a middle of the table, make up the numbers, squad right now. At least the 2 English kids might be world beaters in time. The guys we are trying to get won't be. They might jag us a top 8 spot if we have some luck.

If we sign Hastings and Pryce is i guess going to play in the halves is there much use moving Ponga for 1 year then move him back in 2024 , or will Pryce play F/b and then what happens if we sign Nui.

I'd rather we spend money on paying the transfer for the English boys than buy the fairly ordinary options we are talking about.
I'd rather not have that happen, simply because If next season the coach gets the *** I'd rather not have both their heads filled with crap and careers/footy IQ destroyed by It.

Let them play their one more year In England and let's see where the Domino's fall for 2023 regarding AOB.

we need to be careful putting so much expectation on KPP and Pryce. I think they will be great players, but it will take a couple of years

When they get here they will need time to develop. Look at Young, it took him a year being in Australia before he was ready for first grade. I'd expect similar time frames on the Pryce and KPP

If we put too much pressure and expectation on them we are setting them up for failure
