Well against the Roosters he did 7 runs for 71m. But he was only on there for 25 minutes.

Anyway, my point was to highlight that King is still bog average no matter what colour he is wearing. He was a solid low cost depth cover reggies player, nothing more.
 
I wouldn’t call King bog average. That’s rather harsh. King for me is a role player. Did we do the right thing and not keep him? Yep, he wasn’t what we needed. Is it what Storm needed? Yep absolutely. He’s doing his job, playing his role.

Every player doesn’t have to be spectacular. It’s like any team sport, my classic example is Ben Simmons going to the nets. Not a phenomenal scorer, but why does he need to be when Durant, Irving Curry and Mills are on the team?

Would he fit as the lead scorer at Orlando? Nope.
 
Solid defender but a total non-factor in attack. Little impact with hit ups, no footwork, no passing game or offload. Bog average.

Bellamy/Melbourne's system can make some bog average players look valuable (though plenty don't pan out and are forgotten about), but even there he'd be a depth player at full strength. Missing Welch, Smith and Kamikamica will buy him some time in first grade.
 
King needed to be at a big club to reach his potential. I always thought he was a good solid player but we didn’t have the cattle around him. I’m glad for him he deserves to is chance.

He had 40 PCM last night. Not bad considering the other PCM. What do you want to see from every forward? Linebreaks, offloads, a wicked step?

Not every player has to be a threat in attack
 
King is bog average. Watch what he's doing in the ruck post contact. Zero wrestle. Lose grip. And he's equally as poor when carrying the ball post contact.

Very glad we have Thompson who is already considerably better imo

We must watch two different things. I’m surprised he is in the NRL. Offers nothing in attack and can’t defend properly. Yet the best coach in the game picked him up, started him and is playing more minutes than he did at Newcastle.
 
King is better than Sue for similar money.

With the role of forwards changing with the new rules, we had too many big boppers - Klem, the Safs, King and Sue is way too many, especially when lock is not a middle forward position anymore - it's a ballplaying position.
King is a 200k middle forward and worth every penny of that - but with Klem and the Safs, we probably don't need anyone else.

Thompson, Momoisea and Barnett are the new type of middles we need - smaller, more mobile, got a pass in them - fast enough to make use of a line break.

Can see Sue finishing up at contract end along with a few others mostly reserve graders not putting enough pressure on our firsts, the likes of Musgrove and Johns. Croker is a likely middle forward with potential firsts in him along with Thompson

He’s playing those minutes because he has to. Their bench rotation, MacDonald, Loiero and Moeroa, is simply not NRL standard atm.
