2022 Jersey Flegg

10 all at halftime.
Saints had 6 interchanges before halftime. Knights had 3.
Saints could struggle towards the end of the game with only 2 interchanges left.

Knights 16 - 10 Saints - 30 minutes to go

  • Tevita Toloi 3'
  • James Johnson 8'
  • Liam Sutton 38'

24 - 10 - 14 minutes to go

Cant is having an off day with the boot.

  • Tevita Toloi 3'
  • James Johnson 8'
  • Liam Sutton 38'
  • David Armstrong 45'
  • Ethan Ferguson 54'

Interchange 5 for the Knights was an odd 1 - hooker Noah Naigolivia went on for fullback Davie Armstrong. I assume what happened is Mitch Henderson went from hooker to fullback.

Final score 24 - 16
We go back to outright 2nd.
I didn't think we'd win that one with a pretty weak squad this week and Saints only making 2 changes from the team that beat the Roosters last week.
Anyway - season back on track.

I really enjoyed and now miss the NYC comp.
It was so good having a couple of games to watch each week on Fox.
Awesome to see the up and comers live on tv.

bye this week.
After that the boys go on a road trip to Melbourne for an easy 2 points and then 3 games against top 8 sides to tune up for the finals.
We have used dozens of players this year and have kept winning, but I reckon they should spend this week working out who are our top 17 and get our combinations working for the finals.

Top 17 in my opinion

1 David Armstrong
2 Ethan Ferguson
3 James Johnson
4 Krys Mapapalangi
5 Chris Vea'ila
6 Riley Jones
7 I'd go with Mitch Henderson, but they'll go with Liam Sutton
8 Cal Burgess
9 Noah Naigolivia
10 Max Bradbury
11 Oryn Keeley
12 Tom Cant
13 Jaron Purcell

14 Tevita Toloi
15 Mitch Henderson
16 Harry Croker
17 Brock Greacen

Noah Ryan has done us a favour by captaining Canberra to a win over dragons, so now 2nd placed Knights have a 4 point break over 3rd placed Dragons with 4 games to play. Assuming we have a good win over second last placed Thunderbolts next week, we should only need 1 more win in our last 3 to lock in a top 2 finish.

Jersey Flegg Cup v Thunderbolts

1. Mitch Henderson
2. Ethan Ferguson
3. Chris Vea'ila
4. James Johnson
5. Keanu Wainohu-Kemp
6. Kurt Donoghoe
7. Liam Sutton
8. Max Bradbury
9. Riley Jones
10. Jyris Glamuzina
11. Oryn Keeley
12. Tom Cant
13. Myles Martin

Interchange:

14. Noah Nailagoliva
15. Lachlan Williams
16. Kobe Rugless
17. Tevita Toloi

Extended Bench:

18. Luke Pietzner

Rugless and Nailagoliva both on the bench seems strange, but Rugless was mostly playing lock before he was injured? and Nailagolivia can play in the forwards as well.
8 players from the Ball side - Henderson, Ferguson, Vea'ila, Sutton, Bradbury, Keeley, Martin, Nailagolivia. Most years you get 2 or 3 from Ball playing Flegg.

Knights are up 34 - 6 over Melbourne at halftime

tries
  • Ethan Ferguson 13'
  • Kurt Donoghoe 16'
  • Jyris Glamuzina 20'
  • Max Bradbury 23'
  • Riley Jones 28'
  • Chris Vea'ila 33'

Knights 40 - 6 Melbourne after 53

  • Ethan Ferguson 13'
  • Kurt Donoghoe 16'
  • Jyris Glamuzina 20'
  • Max Bradbury 23'
  • Riley Jones 28'
  • Chris Vea'ila 33'
  • Fletcher Sharpe 52'

Really wish they'd give some of the more promising guys from 20's a run in reserves the last month so they can get some experience playing against men. Not that interested in the club winning a 20's comp as I am developing the best guys to be able to fill in next year
